Season Outlook
Boonville returns ten players from last years team that was a game away from qualifying for the Final Four at T.R. Hughes.  They have four of their top five hitters returning in the line up and three starting pitchers and a lock-down closer back in 2016.  Expectations are high for the Pirates this spring, as they should be.  They a balanced team that can hit, defend and pitch.  Boonville enters the spring as the #9 ranked team in Class 4 and will match up well with any team in the state.  Scoring runs against the Pirates will not be easy.  They have three solid pitchers in Nick Zeitlow, an All-District returner, Jake Esser and Connor PoundDalton Bealmer will be called on to close and shorten the game for the Pirates.  Offensively, Boonville has a power bat in one of the top sophomores in th estate in Kole FickenBealmer will add more pop in the line-up when he is not closing. Jady Reece, an All-District catcher, will return behind the plate, while Riley Lang, All-District 2B, leads the infield.  Look for Blake Barnes to play a key role on the infield this spring as well. Don't be surprised if you see the Pirates move up the Class 4 rankings as the season progresses.
