MO-KAN Fall Review: Outfielder's Analysis

On Saturday, October 31, Prep Baseball Report Missouri/Kansas held the MO-KAN Fall Review at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas. 

Fourty-one players in the 2019 to 2016 classes from both states took part in the event.  Profiles have been updated with times, velocities, profile pitchers and videos. 

We will break down the event position-by-position.  Today we will break down the outfielders.  In the days to come, we will break down the infielders, and pitchers.  Outfielders are listed in alphabetical order. Click here for the catcher's analysis.

Outfielders

Ethan Baltz, OF, Lee’s Summit West (MO), 2016
Baltz is a 6-foot 160-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2016 class. Baltz used the whole field during batting practice, starting from a tall stance, uses minimal load, controlled leg kick, balanced swing, 83 mph exit velo, ran a 7.32 60, and a 4.57 home to first. In the outfield, posted an 83 mph positional velo, loose over the top release point, clean exchange, throws downhill, momentum towards target.

Gibson Brown, OF, Liberty (MO), 2018. 
Brown is a 6-foot 155-pound right-handed hitting outfielder from Missouri’s 2018 class.  Brown starts in an open stance, pull side approach, level bat path to extension, upper half dominate, 74 mph exit velo, runs a 7.07 60, and 4.63 home-to-first.  In the outfield, 76 mph positional velo, crow hop, high three-quarters release, loose arm action, plays through the catch.

Brendan Glock, OF, Marquette (MO), 2016
Glock is a 6-foot-1 190-pound right-handed hitting outfielder from Missouri’s 2016 class. Strong and athletic, ran a 7.31 60, and a 4.33 home-to-first.  At the plate, loads lower half, high/controlled leg lift, quick hands, level path, power to pull side, 85 mph exit velo.  In the outfield, aggressive to the ball, playing through catch, quick exchange and release, works behind ball, 79 mph positional velo.

Kamron Grant, OF, Hillcrest (MO), 2017
Grant is a 5-foot-7 155-pound left-handed hitting outfielder from Missouri’s 2017 class. Grant posted a 78 mph exit velo and ran a 7.09 60.  He gets down the line in 4.64-seconds.  Starts in wide base, no stride, loads in lower half, loose and free hands with level path, middle to pull approach.  In the outfield, 71 mph positional velo, high-three-quarters release, footwork allows him to get behind the ball, clean exchange, quick release. 

Jared Lafal, OF, Blue Springs (MO), 2016
Lafal is a 5-foot-10 180-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2016 class. Strong build. Lafal ran a 7.63 60 and got down the line in 4.76-seconds.  He posted an 82 mph exit velo.  At the plate, starts mostly loaded in back leg, minimal movement to load, aggressive quick hands, hits in leverage in legs, creates power to pull side, mostly line drives to pull side in batting practice. In the outfield, high three-quarters release, 76 mph positional velo, small crow hop, long arm circle, quick exchange, aggressive though catch. 

Dylan Lloyd, OF, Oak Park (MO), 2016
Lloyd is a 5-foot-9 150-pound right-handed hitting outfielder from Missouri’s 2016 class. Lloyd ran a 7.33 60 and a 4.70 home-to-first.  He has a 74 mph exit velo, gap-to-gap approach, hands work inside ball, simple load, controlled stride, balanced swing, quick and level bath path.  In the outfield, throws left, high three quarters release, loose arm action, momentum through catch, quick catch and release, athletic footwork, 77 mph positional velo. 

Will Morris, OF, Mill Valley (KS), 2018
Morris is a 5-foot-8 145-pound switch-hitting outfielder from Kansas’ 2018 class. Morris ran a 7.07 60, home-to-first times were 4.20 from the right side and 4.22 from the left side.  He had a 74 mph exit velo from the left side, and 75 mph exit velo from the right side.  Similar stance and load from both side, minimal hand movement, consistent line drives to pull gap from left side, pull approach from right side, quick hands, short to contact.  In the outfield, 80 mph positional velo, works behind ball, momentum through catch, high three-quarters release, long arm circle, moves to ball with ease, clean catch and exchange.  

Oakley Reed, OF, Olathe South (KS), 2017
Reed is a 6-foot-1 175-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2017 class.  Ran a 7.48 60 with an 81 mph exit velo.  At the plate, takes an aggressive swing, fast bat speed, strong hands, middle to pull line drives during batting practice, uses toe touch for timing, ran a 4.55 home-to-first.  In the outfield, over the top release, 81 mph positional velo, loose/quick arm speed, quick footwork, clean exchange, plays through the ball. Tall and lean frame with projection.

David Robinson, OF, Blue Valley Northwest (KS), 2018
Robinson is a 5-foot-9 165-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2018 class. Robinson ran 7.12 60 and a 4.71 home-to-first.  At the plate, starts with a side base, minimal hand movement in hands, consistent line drives to middle/pull side of field, level bat path with extension, 78 mph exit velo.  In the outfield, high three-quarters release, 76 mph positional velo, quick catch and release, plays though the ball. 

Gregory Sykes Jr., OF, Grandview (MO), 2017
Sykes is a 5-foot-8 160-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2017 class.  Starts in open stance at the plate, toe touch and stride, level path to extension, pull approach, 74 mph exit velo, 7.31 60 time, 4.37 home-to-first.  In the outfield, 74 mph positional velo, athletic footwork, plays through the ball, high three-quarters release, quick crow hop for momentum. 

Andrew Taylor, OF, St. James Academy (KS), 2018
Taylor is a 5-foot-8 130-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas 2018 class. Ran a 6.90 60 and had an exit velo of 74 mph.  Got down the line in 4.17-seconds. Starts in athletic stance at plate, simple load with small movements, short stide, quick hands short to contact.  In the outfield, 70 mph positional velo, fluid footwork, works behind ball, high three quarters release, clean exchanges.

Gleason Williams, OF, Salina Central (KS), 2017
Williams 6-foot-2 190-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2017 class. Physical hitter, 84 mph exit velo, starts in open stance, has a toe tap and stride, free hands produces quick bat speed, pull approach, balanced swing, ran a 7.46 60 and a 4.44 home-to-first.  In the outfield,  78 mph positional velo, attacks ball, works through catch, clean exchange, quick release, over-the-top arm slot, arm works.
