Prep Baseball Report-Missouri held the MOKAN Mid-Summer Open at Meador Park in Springfield, MO on July 19. 

Players profiles have been updated with profile pitcher, running times, velocities and videos.  We will break down the event position-by-position, taking a look at the catchers  and outfielders performances today.  Although, some catchers and outfielders may have participated various positions, this is just a look at the catching and outfield performances.  Players are listed in alphabetical order.

Catchers

Ben Buchinger, C, Liberty, 2018
Buchinger is a 6-foot 200-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 8.88 60 and a had a 75 mph exit velo.  At the plate, simple and repeatable, balanced stance, shot stride, high finish, gap-to-gap approach. Behind the plate, pop times between 2.03 and 2.10-seconds, 71 mph positional velo, short over the top release, quick transfer, fluid footwork, throws are mostly accurate with carry.

Outfielders

Trey Dolron, OF, Hollister, 2018
Dolron is a 5-foot-8 145-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 7.38 60 and and has a 78 mph exit velo. At the plate, starts in balanced stance, short stride, stays behind ball, contact to the middle of the field, some hand load, body under control.  In the outfield, 72 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, catches ball in position ready to throw, quick exchange, fluid footwork, moves well to the ball.

Landon Farquhar, OF, Hollister, 2018
Faraquhar is a 5-foot-10 160-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 7.40 60 and has a 77 mph exit velo. At the plate, balanced stance, short stride, level path though the zone, swing produced line to middle and pull side of the field.  In the outfield, 77 mph positional velo, over the top release, throws down hill, fluid footwork, clean exchange, mostly accurate throws.

Adam Fuqua, OF, Eureka, 2018
Fuqua is a 5-foot-10 170-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 7.00 60 and has an 87 mph exit velo. At the plate, starts with wide base, short stride, aggressive swing with quick bat, gap-to-gap approach, uses middle of the field. In the outfield, 76 mph positional velo, high three quarters release, plays throught the ball, quick catch and throw, somewhat accurate throws, strong frame.

Kamron Grant, OF, Hillcrest, 2017
Grant is a 5-foot-7 155-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2017 class.  He ran a 7.06 60 and has an 81 mph exit velo.  At the plate, open stance, sits in back leg to load, level bat path, pull side line drives, loose hands.  In the outfield, 75 mph positional velo, over the top release, moves well to the ball, quick catch and throw, feet in sync with hands and exchange, somewhat accurate throws.

Ryan Gruener, OF, Logan Rogersville, 2017
Gruener is a 5-foot-11 165-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2017 class.  He ran a 7.53 60 and has an 88 mph exit velo.  At the plate, open stance, smooth load, accelerated swing, consistent middle line drives during batting practice, aggressive swing.  In the outfield, 80 mph positional velo, loose arm action, over the top release, momentum thought he catch with quick feet to the ball, somewhat accurate throws.

Sol Rainey, OF, Cassville, 2019
Rainey is a 6-foot-4 172-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 8.00 60 and has an 83 mph exit velo. At the plate, balanced set up, controlled leg lift, level path, swing produced mostly pull side line drives.  In the outfield, 75 mph positional velo, over the top release, fluid catch and throw with momentum though the catch, works behind the ball, mostly accurate throws.
