Games for Tuesday, May 27

Class 5

Blue Springs South 13, #2 Lee's Summit West 5
Blue Springs South came put swinging and built and 8-2 lead after two innings, highlighted by a three-run homer by Austin Simms in the first inning.  Lee's Summit West cut the lead to 8-4 in the fourth inning on a two-run single by Drew Anderson and added another run in the fifth on a single from Handel that scored Monte Harrison. But that is as close as the Titans could get as Simms added a two-run double in the sixth and Reece Eddins tacked on a two-run single in the seventh to make the score 13-5 to help the Jags advance to Thursday.  Eddins pitched six innings allowing four earned runs on six hits with seven strikeouts and five walks.  Connor Davis pitched a scoreless inning in relief.  The Jags finished with 15 hits on the game, led by Austin Simms 2-for-4, four RBI performance.  Five Blue Springs South hitters finished with multiple hits.  Jake Lalumondier pitched five innings in relief for Lee's Summit West, surrendering three earned runs on seven hits with five strikeouts.  Tyler Brough took the loss for Lee's Summit West. 

#9 Marquette 11, Parkway Central 4
Tyler Wood goes 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI to lead Marquette past Parkway Central.  Keith Grieshaber and Matt Scheibel each doubled and scored two runs for the Mustangs.  Winston Chien picks up with win for Marquette working 5.1 innings, surrendering three earned runs on seven hits and fanning two.  Zack Lazenby and Brantley Lohkamp each hit home runs for Parkway Central.

Rock Bridge 9, Rolla 1
Avery Jennings got Rock Bridge on the board board in the third inning with a single that drove in Eric Kuse.  The Bruins built a 4-0 lead after four innings and never looked back to advance with an 9-1 in over Rolla.

Francis Howell 10, Fort Zumwalt 2
Francis Howell turned a 2-1 lead into an 8-1 lead in the third inning, highlighted by a two-run single by Justin Perkins Eli Dilday added a 3-for-3 game with a double and three RBI and Nic Perkins went 3-for-4 with a home run and 2 RBI.  Tanner Kulpa went the distance for Howell striking out three and allowing two earned runs on six hits.  Cole Layton turned in a 2-for-2 game with a walk and run scored to lead Fort Zumwalt South.  Drew Quinones double and drove in a run for South.

SLUH 6, Hazelwood West 3
Luke Robinson's home run in the first inning give SLUH an early 2-1 lead. After Hazelwood West ties in the second inning, John Ceriotti answered with a double in the bottom of the inning to give SLUH the lead for good, 3-2.  SLUH would tack on three more runs and Robinson closed it out in the seventh to earn the 6-3 and advance in the state playoffs.

#1 Westminster 6, #4 Lutheran South 5
Westminster trailed 4-0 after five innings, but get the game tied on a base hit by Jordan Smith.  Lutheran South added a run run in top of the seventh to take a 5-4 lead, but Travis Ralls sends Westminster to the next round with a walk-off home run in the seventh. 

#2 Notre Dame 12, Park Hills 2
Josh Haggerty and Luke Haines led the offense for Notre Dame.  Haggerty went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored, while Haines added a double and two RBI in the 12-2 win.  Hunter Eftink and Blake Hadedorn added two hits each for the Bulldogs.  Ross James pitched 5.2 scoreless innings for Notre Dame.  James walked two and struck out eight. 

#5 Smithville 8, Van Horn 0
Nolan Gromacki throws a complete-game shut-out to earn the win and Sam Capps homers and drives in four.

St. Mary's 10, Clayton 4
Mexico 2, St. Charles 1

#8 Forsyth 4, Ash Grove 0
Jay Kaufman tosses a complete-game shut out to earn the win for Forsyth.  Alex Woods goes 1-for-2 with a pair of RBI to lead the Panthers.
