Missouri Underclass Games: Corner Infield Analysis

On June 13, Prep Baseball Report Missouri held the Missouri Underclass Games.  Over 80 players in the 2019, 2020 and 2021 classes attended.

In the days to come, we will break down the event position-by-position.  Today we will take a look at the corner infielders. Players are listed in alphabetical order.

Player's profiles have been updated with profile pictures, videos and stats from the event. Coaches will have new profiles to add their dashboard on ScoutPlus and players will be able to update information on their profile with ProspectPlus.

Corner Infielders

Colin Bergmann 3B / CBC, MO / 2019

Bergman is a strong 6-foot 180-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.25 laser timed 60 and a 5.10 home to first.  He has a 91 mph exit velo. At the plate, open stance, aggressive and quick bat speed, swing bat with a purpose, mostly pull side line drives during batting practice, pull side power.  On the infield, 82 mph positional velo, quick footwork, fields ball in athletic position, momentum after the catch, over the top release, arm works, mostly accurate throws.  Singled to left in game action, two fly outs to left. 

Braxton Bragg 1B / Liberty, MO / 2019

Bragg is a 6-foot-2 180-pound right-handed hitting first baseman in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.83 laser timed 60 and a 4.73 home to first.  He has an 84 mph exit velo. At the plate, balanced stance, short and controlled stride, no wasted movement, fast bat speed, solid consistent line drives to pull side during batting practice, shows power to pull gap.  At first base, fluid actions, soft hands, high three quarters arm slot, accurate throws, feet create momentum to throw, 79 mph positional velo. Collected a pair of singles to left field in game action.

Luke Burk SS / Galena , MO / 2019

Burk is a 6-foot 175-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.25 laser timed 60 and a 4.38 home to first.  He has an 89 mph exit velo. At the plate, athletic set up, in line stride, rhythm in hands, body stays under control, loose hands, gap to gap approach, power to pull side, repeats swing.  On the infield, athletic footwork, soft hands, fields ball in position ready to throw, hands and feet work together, 80 mph positional velo. In game action, made three plus defensive plays.

Will Fricker 3B / Park Hill South, MO / 2020

Fricker is a 6-foot-1 170-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 7.88 60 and a 5.60 home to first.  He has an 87 mph exit velo. At the plate, starts in a wide stance, reverse toe tap, in line stride, mostly pull side contact during batting practice, has leverage in lower half, quick bat speed.  On the infield, 77 mph positional velo, three quarters arm slot, field ball in position ready to throw, fluid transfer on time with footwork, mostly accurate throws. Singled to left in game action.

Chase Hill 3B / Kansas City Christian, MO / 2020

Hill is a long levered 6-foot-2 182-pound switch-hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 7.74 laser timed 60 and a 4.94 home to first.  He has an 85 mph exit veto from the left side and an 87 mph exit velo from the left side. At the plate from the left side, tall stance, in line stride, loose hands, line drives gap to gap, slightly closed stride. On the infield, 79 mph positional velo, over the top release, footwork creates momentum after the catch, clean exchange mostly accurate throws. Singled to center and right field in game action, well hit fly out to left.

Ryan Hoshaw LHP / Francis Howell Central, MO / 2021

Hoshaw is a lean 6-foot 155-pound right-handed hitting first baseman in Missouri’s 2021 class.  He ran a 7.75 laser timed 60 and a 4.91 home to first.  He has a 79 mph exit velo. At the plate, tall stance, smooth rhythm and load, controlled leg kick, loose hands, level through the zone.  On the infield, 73 mph positional velo, aggressive to the ball, high three quarters release, fluid exchange on time with footwork, momentum after the catch.  Doubled to center field in game action.

Anthony Klein 3B / Parkway Central, MO / 2020

Klein is a strong 6-foot 175-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 7.93 laser timed 60 and a 5.25 home to first.  He has an 85 mph exit velo. At the plate, balanced stance, leg lift to stride, quick bat speed, stays on ball after contact, swing produced gap to gap line drives during batting practice, solid consistent contact.  On the infield, 80 mph positional velo, short over the top release, high glove to hand exchange, fluid footwork to the ball, fields ball in athletic position.

Christian Little RHP / CBC, MO / 2021

Little is a 6-foot-2 155-pound right-handed hitting first baseman in Missouri’s 2021 class.  He has a 7.75 laser timed 60 and a 4.82 home to first.  He has an 82 mph exit velo. At the plate, high three quarters release, smooth rhythm in lower half, controlled leg lift, quick and loose hands, level to extension, mostly middle of the field line drives during batting practice.  On the infield, 86 mph positional velo, athletic actions, moves well to the ball, clean trasfer, over the top arm action, loose arm action, accurate throwers. Singled to right field in game action

Kolten Poorman 3B / N. St. Francois Co., MO / 2019

Poorman is a 5-foot-9 195-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 8.04 laser timed 60 and a 5.03 home to first.  He has an 89 mph exit velo. At the plate, simple and repeatable swing, no wasted movement, balanced stance, in line stride, strong lower half, level path, pull side power.  On the infield, 79 mph positional velo, high three quarters arm slot, long arm circle, quick to the ball, clean transfer, accurate throws. Singled to left field in game action, solid contact in three at-bats.

Garrett Rice RHP / Willard, MO / 2020

Rice is a strong 6-foot-1 235-pound right-handed hitting first baseman in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 7.83 laser timed 60 and a 4.58 home to first.  He has a 92 mph exit velo. At the plate, aggressive swing, power to middle and pull side, fast bat speed, loose hands, smooth load, body stays under control, level bat plane, hard contact during batting practice.  On the infield, high three quarters release, moves well for size, soft hands with clean transfer, 78 mph positional velo, accurate throws.  Loud double to left center field and single to center in game action.

Mark Shallenberger 1B / St. Louis Priory, MO / 2019

Shallenberger is a 6-foot-1 185-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.65 laser timed 60 and a 4.89 home to first.  He has an 82 mph exit velo. At the plate, starts loaded on back leg, minimal load, in line stride, quick hands with level bat path, hard pull side contact during batting practice. On the infield, 71 mph positional velo, clean exchange, high three quarters release, fluid footwork, accurate throws. Doubled to left center in game action.

Tyler Worley RHP / Liberty North , MO / 2020

Worley is a lean 6-foot 150-pound right-handed hitting third baseman in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 8.13 laser timed 60 and a 5.07 home to first.  He has an 80 mph exit velo. At the plate,  starts loaded in back leg, no hand movement in load, mostly pull side line drives during batting practice.  On the infield, 79 mph positional velo, over the top release, momentum after the catch, fluid footwork to the ball, mostly accurate throws.
