Shon Plack
Missouri Scouting Director

Payton Rawlins, Seneca, 6-foot-2, 190-pound, RHP/1B
Rawlins is a two-sport athlete at Seneca High School in southwest Missouri.  During the fall, is a standout quarterback that led his team to back-to-back district championships and a shot at the Missouri Class 3 State Championship next week at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis.  During the spring, he is an All-State baseball player.

As a junior, Rawlins batted .423 with three home runs and 32 RBI.  On the mound, he was 6-2 with a 2.71 ERA.  He tallied 57 strike-outs in 52 innings and added 2 saves.  He led the Indians to a 22-5 record and a district championship.  Rawlins was named to the 2013 Missouri Baseball Coaches Association All State Class 4 2nd Team Utility,  and 2013 Sportswriters Class 4 Baseball 2nd Team All State DH/Utility at the end of the season.

Seneca Head Coach, Chris Yust, adds, "Payton is a good athlete with a strong arm and bat. Defensively he reads the ball well off the bat getting good jumps. Offensively he has good bat control, can bunt, and hit to all fields, and hit for power. Payton works hard on the field and would be willing to play a corner
infield position or pitch".

Drury University and Missouri Southern are schools that have expressed interest, and Rawlins plans on visit more schools once spring rolls around.  He plays for the Midwest Nationals during the summer, but does not play fall baseball.
