Shon Plack
Missouri Scouting Director

Van Oswald (Truman, 2016) is a 5-foot-10 180-pound registered and 86 mph fastball at the Class of 2016 Games in St. Louis on June 9.  To go along with one of the top pitching velos of the event, Oswald also posted one of the top infield velos at 81 mph.  He ran a 7.34 60 and had an 89 mph exit velo.

Oswald is preparing for his senior season at Truman High School in Independence, Missouri and will be playing for the KC Mets this summer.  Recently, Oswald gave a look inside his recruiting process.

PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future? If so, what schools, and how recently?

Oswald: I have not taken any visits and I do not have any scheduled at this moment.

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

Oswald: I do not have anything particular I'm looking for in a school.

PBR: Recap your junior season for us at Truman.  Name some players that played a key role for Truman in 2015.

Oswald: We had some big wins this year and beat some good teams. We didn't make a good run in the playoffs like we were expecting to. Brayden Jensen was a dominant pitcher all year and was a good hitter in our lineup. Nathan Croner also had a great season pitching and we could count on him to give us a good outing.

PBR: What are you goals for your senior season?

Oswald: My goal for my senior season is to win our conference and win our district. I want to be a consistent  hitter in the middle of the order and have a reliable glove over at 3rd base. Every time I take the mound I'll compete and give our team a chance to win.

PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?

Oswald: I play for the KC Mets. We are not planning on playing any fall baseball but I would like to play.

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Oswald: 2 years of varsity football for Truman.

PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?

Oswald: My ACT score is 20 and my GPA is 3.5
