Shon Plack
Missouri Scouting Director

Caleb Lauvetz (Rockburst, 2016) is a 6-foot-2 215-pound right-handed hitting catcher and is one of the top uncommitted catchers in Missouri.

Lauvetz is a right-hand hitter, with a a tall set-up and narrow stance at the plate.  He has a smooth load and a reverse toe tap pre-stride.  Lauvetz strides inline with a short bat path to contact. His swing produces line drives to the middle of the field and has a slight pull approach. He has extension through the baseball and maintains balance throughout swing. Recorded an 86 mph exit velocity, ran a 4.34 home-to-first and has a 7.23 60.

Louvers has quick footwork behind the plate with a short high three-quarters arm action. He has a best recorded pop time of 1.89-seconds, and a 78 mph throwing velocity. His throws have carry, and are mostly accurate.

Last season, Lauvetz led the Hawklets to a 22-7 season and is looking to get Rockhurst back into the state tournament in 2016.  Here is a closer look inside the recruitment of Caleb Lauvetz.

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

Lauvetz: I want to go to Division I school that is within 9 hrs of Kansas City.  I plan to either go into psychology, economics or biology.

PBR: How did you do your junior year? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do? Name some players that will play a key role for Rockhurst in 2016.

Lauvetz: I did well. I started almost all the games at catcher and hit .426 and threw out 75% of all attempted steals.  Our team got beat by Lee’s Summit West in the quarterfinals of State.  Tyler Benninghoff, Dalton Lampher, Jack Goodwin, are some of the returning Seniors who will help us win state.

PBR: What are you goals for your senior season?

Lauvetz: A State title is first and foremost.  It would be the first time Rockhurst has won State in its school history and I want to be a big part of that.  Outside of that any individual awards would mean that I did my part to get us a championship.

PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?

Lauvetz: I played for Building Champions -Goodwin

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Lauvetz: Not at this time

PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?

Lauvetz: I have a 29 on the ACT and a 3.2 GPA.
