Player Spotlight: C/OF Trever Lewis (East Carter, 2015)

Shon Plack
Missouri Scouting Director

Trever Lewis is an athletic 6-foot-3, 180-pound C/OF that showed very well at the Southeast Missouri Prospect ID in September.  The physical Lewis had pop times that ranged from 1.91 to 2.03 with a velo of 73 mph behind the plate.  His throws to the bag were accurate with carry.

In the outfield, he has an over-top-release with a positional velo of 87 mph.  He has a quick exchange and release with fluid footwork, taking good routes to the ball. Lewis' throws were mostly accurate with life.

At the plate, he has an athletic set-up with simple, repeatable swing mechanics.  He has a gap-to-gap approach with pulls power, showing extension through the ball at contact.  Lewis runs a 7.03 60 and gets down the line in 4.53 seconds.

Lewis also worked off the mound with a max fastball at 84 mph.  He throws with easy effort and a high 3/4 release.  He has a loose, quick arm action.  He has an 11-to-5 curveball at 66-69 mph with late break, and throws his change-up at 71-74 mph with slight arm side release.

Currently, Lewis is gearing up for his senior year of baseball at East Carter and looking over possible college opportunities.  Lewis talked about the recruiting process with us below.
