Player Spotlight: OF/RHP Cody Klotz (Oakville, 2015)

OF/RHP Cody Klotz (Oakville) was impressive at the November 8 Unsigned Senior Showcase, running a 6.78 60, with a 91 mph outfield velocity.  The 5-foot-10 164-pound lefty hitter, also registered an 85 exit velo and got down the line in 4.25-seconds. 

Last season, Klotz hit at a .369 clip, driving in 18 runs, with three doubles and four home runs.  He had an on-base percentage of .418 and struck-out only 8 times in 93 plate appearances, and earned 2nd Team All-Conference honors.  During the summer and fall he plays for the 18U Rawlings Prospects. 

Klotz is still uncommitted, but is taking visits this winter.  Here is a look at what Klotz has going on. 

PBR: What schools have expressed interest in you?

Klotz: Schools that have expressed interest are Fontbonne, Webster, SEMO, Saginaw Valley State, Mizzou, Kansas City Kansas Community College, Southern Indiana, and Southern Illinois

PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future? If so, what schools, and how recently?

Klotz:  I have visited KCKCC the weekend of November 14, also Jefferson Community College a month ago, I have a visit with Fontbonne set up for November 19th and with Webster the 24th. Also, I am in the process of setting one up with SEMO.

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)
Klotz:  I am looking for a strong Special Education program for this is the major I want to earn in college.

PBR: How did you do your junior year? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do?

Klotz: My junior year went very well I started left field and batted in the 2 hole on varsity. My batting average was .378 with 4 home runs, 4 triples, and 4 doubles, i had 21 RBI with 22 hits. My fielding percentage was 1000 and my stolen base ratio was 9-10 and i had 3-4 put outs from the outfield. We finished 14-9 while losing in our district championship game vs Vianney. At the end of the season I received the 2nd Team All-Conference award.

PBR: What are you goals for your senior season? Name some players that will play a key role for Oakville in 2015.

Klotz: My senior year goals are too bat over .400 with bigger power numbers while also receiving the all state award and making to the all star game for Missouri. I believe some key players for Oakville this year will by myself, Corey Chambliss, Bailey Vulesteke, and Brad Burton.

PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?

Klotz: I play for the 18U Academy Rawlings Prospects and I also played fall ball for them as well.

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Klotz: No I don't i used to play hockey but now all i do is lift and run.

PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?

Klotz: My ACT is a 20 but I'm retaking it in December and my GPA is a 3.41
