Shon Plack
Missouri Scouting Director

Adam Lafferty (Rock Bridge, 2015) is a 6-foot-2 190-pound RHP.  Lafferty has a high ¾ delivery and quick arm action, and throws with regular effort. Lafferty had a fastball velocity range of 82-84 MPH with run. His slider was at 75-76 MPH with 10/4 shape. Lafferty also displayed a change-up that ranged from 77-78 with near fastball arm speed and good sink. He’s a strike thrower that works quick and attacks hitters. During game action at the Class of 2015 Prospect Games, he showed command of three pitches and racked up a pair of strikeouts during his outing.

Lafferty played a major role on the Missouri Class 5 State Championship team.  He pitched 41.1 innings with 26 strikeouts and posted a 3.05 ERA for Rock Bridge.  He earned All-District honors and is currently playing fall baseball with the Sedalia Bombers.

PBR: What schools have expressed interest in you?

Lafferty: Lindenwood University, Rockhurst University, Longview Community College, Lincoln University, John Wood Community College & Quincy University.

PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future? If so, what schools, and how recently?

Lafferty: I would like to start scheduling some visits very soon after the fall ball season is over in October.

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

Lafferty: If it is a two year school/JC I would like the school to have a solid academic program so that I can get a good base to complete my degree and baseball career at a 4 year program.  I am open to 4 year schools that are a good baseball fit for me.  I am undecided as to my career path so I don’t have any certain academic programs in mind.  I would like an active campus type feeling.  I prefer to stay in or near Missouri but would consider any school with a solid baseball program.

PBR: Rock Bridge went on a great run at the end of the season winning the state championship, describe the season for us. What honors did you receive and what were your statistics your junior year.

Lafferty: It was great year filled with ups and downs for our team ending in an experience most only get to dream about.  I was fortunate to be able to get quality starts against several top 10 teams during the regular season.  Those game highlights include the following:

-       A 4 inning 2 earned run outing and no decision against the regular season #1 team, Liberty North.

-       A 5 inning 3-0 Win against Blue Springs South, who finished 3rd in the State Tournament.

-       A complete game 4-1 loss, allowing only 2 earned runs, against Francis Howell, who finished 2nd in the State Tournament.

I earned All District Honors and ended the season with a 3.05 ERA and 26 strikeouts over 41.1 innings pitched.

PBR: What are you goals for your senior season at Rock Bridge?

Lafferty: After the experience of winning the Class 5 State Championship, my goal is to help my team get back to TR Hughes field and do it again, I can’t think of a better goal.  Personally, I want to just keep improving as I have been consistently with each year.  My goal is to earn All District again, earn All State honors and be a consistent, steady leader on the team.  It will be an exciting year as we return most of our State Championship team.

PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?

Lafferty: I played summer ball with the Rock Bridge team and I am playing fall ball with the Bombers out of Sedalia (Jud Kindle’s team)

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Lafferty: Not in High School but I do enjoy Golfing and playing League Basketball.  I have also earned the rank of 3rd Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo, although with the high school baseball schedule I have had to drop Taekwondo training.

PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?

Lafferty: GPA is a 3.10 and I just took the ACT on 9/13 and I am waiting for my score.
