Player Spotlight: RHP Clarke Davenport (Fort Zumwalt West, 2017)

Clarke Davenport (Fort Zumwalt West, 2017) is a 6-foot-1 150-pound right handed pitcher.  He showed well at the Winter Pitchers Showcase on February. 

He has a loose and easy delivery, touching 88 mph with is fastball and working mostly 84-86 mph.  He showed a tight spinning 69-71 mph breaking ball and a change up at 81-84 with occasional arm side sink.

He has a slender frame with an athletic delivery.  His build has the ability to add strength to an already quick arm.

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)?

Davenport: Academics is a big key to choosing a college. I plan on majoring in Business/Marketing or Journalism with emphasis in the field of sports.

PBR: How did you do your junior year? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do?

Davenport: I did well my junior year when I was in the game. I don't my high schools statistics because I haven't played too many games at the varsity level yet. I have about 6 appearances pitching in relief so far at the varsity level, doing well in those appearances.

PBR: What are you goals for your senior season?

Davenport: My goals for senior year are, to be a all-state pitcher and hit at least one home run over the fences before high school is over. Help lead my team to a state championship.

PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?

Davenport: I play for the Rawlings Tigers 18u Black. I did played fall ball were we scrimmaged against college teams just about every weekend.

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Davenport: I used to play football and play as an quarterback, but with concern for injuries I decided not to play football anymore.

PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?

Davenport: My GPA is a 3.5 weighted and my ACT is a 20.
