St. Louis Invitational: Pitchers Analysis

Prep Baseball Report-Missouri held the St. Louis Invitational on February 20 at All-Star Performance in St. Louis. Nearly 80 players in the 2020 to 2018 class from around the St. Louis area participated.

We have broken down the event position-by-position.  Today we will take a look at the pitchers. Nineteen pitchers took part in the pitching evaluations, eight pitchers had a fastball of 80 mph or better, with two over 85 mph.  Six pitchers are in the 2018 class, nine pitcher from the 2019 class, and four are in the 2020 class. Two pitchers were left-handed. Players are listed in alphabetical order.

Player's profiles have been updated with profile pictures, videos and stats from the event. Coaches will have new profiles to add their dashboard on ScoutPlus and players will be able to update information on their profile with ProspectPlus.

Pitchers

Alex Adams, RHP, Lafayette HS (MO), 2018
Adams is a 6-foot-2 195-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. Adams comes from a high three quarters release, quick arm action, throws with regular effort, in line down the mound, smooth tempo in delivery, repeats, high number of strikes, command of three pitches, fastball 84-86 mph, heavy, spun an 11-to-5 breaking ball, hard slider break, late action, 72-75 mph, throws change up at 78-80 mph, fastball arm speed, sinking action late.

Jack Boland, RHP, CBC HS (MO), 2019
Boland is a 5-foot-9 160-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Boland has a high three quarters arm slot, tucks with leg lift, hide ball, closed at set position, hands stay high, fastball at 80-83 mph, occasional running action, slurve-type spin on breaking ball, 10-to-4 action, will drop arm slot, sharp at times, 68-72 mph, throws with regular effort, quick arm speed, occasional recoil at finish.  

Brenden Cooper, RHP, Francis Howell Central HS (MO), 2019
Cooper is a 6-foot-4 195-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Cooper has an over the top release point, throws with some effort with smooth tempo, coil at balance point adding deception to delivery, showed command of three pitches, throws fastball for strike at 73-75 mph, breaking ball has 1-to-7 action, sharp and late break, controls change up at 65-68 mph, flashing arm side sink, repeats delivery on all pitches. 

Brayden Eftink, RHP, Notre Dame HS (MO), 2020
Eftink is a 6-foot 180-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Eftink comes from a high three quarters arm slot, hands raise with left lift, coil at balance point, has high command of fastball, all thrown for a strike, some with late run, 73-76 mph, landed a high percentage of breaking balls for a strike, 10-to-4 action, gradual break, near fastball arm speed, change up at 62-64 mph, above average sink, throws with regular effort, repeats delivery.

Tyler Gilmore, RHP, Parkway West HS (MO), 2020
Gilmore is a 5-foot-9 130-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. Gilmore has a controlled leg lift and no wasted motion in delivery, body stays under control with hands remaining high, in line stride, high three quarters arm action, slender and projectable frame still developing, fastball at 72-73 mph, some with occasional running action, breaking ball has 11-to-5 shape, some with late break, change up at 65-68 mph, throws with near fastball arm speed, slight sink.

Grant Gralike, RHP, Oakville HS (MO), 2019
Gralike is a 6-foot-3 165-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Gralike has an over the top release, short arm circle, controlled leg lift, throws with some effort at release, in line down the mound, fastball has slight run, 75-76 mph, shows an above average breaking ball, 12-to-6 action, late and sharp, down in zone, change up flashes sink, 65-67 mph, long levers and slim build, projectable.  

Zack Hunsicker, RHP, Francis Howell HS (MO), 2018
Hunsicker is a 6-foot-5 225-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. Hunsicker has a large and powerful frame, high three quarters release, aggressive down the mound, throws with effort, up-tempo rhythm, in line down the mound, works on a downhill plane, fastball worked 85-89 mph, hand would turn over occasionally for running action, sharp breaking 11-to-5 breaking ball, 82-83 mph change up, sinking action.  

Bryce Kaibel, RHP, Fort Zumwalt South HS (MO), 2020
Kaibel is a 5-foot-11 150-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class.  Kaibel comes from a high three quarters arm slot, controlled leg lift, in line down the mound, hands break over the rubber, fastball at 64-67 mph, showed a cutter with slight 10-to-4 action, 65-66 mph, change up at 60-64 mph, slight sink, near fastball arm speed, still developing physically with clean arm action.  

Ryan Keisker, RHP, Francis Howell Central HS (MO), 2018
Keisker is a 6-foot-2 200-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. Keisker has a smooth tempo in his delivery, comes from a three quarters arm slot, throws with regular effort, in line stride down the mound, fastball at 69-71 mph, strike thrower, some with slight run, breaking ball has 10-to-4 shape, gradual break, change up at 59-61 mph, near fastball arm speed.  

Alex Lancaster, RHP, Staley HS (MO), 2018
Lancaster is a 6-foot-3 195-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. Lancaster comes from a three quarters arm slot, long arm circle, slinging-type arm whip, heavy fastball with late run, 77-79 mph, slider with 10-to-4 action, 65-67 mph, gradual break, change up at 67-70 mph, near fastball arm speed, slight arm side release, works inline down the mound, coil at balance point.  

Craig McGee, RHP, Lutheran North HS (MO), 2020
McGee is a 6-foot 170-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2020 class. McGee comes from a three quarters arm slot, controlled tempo in delivery, repeats, finishes in athletic position, fastball has slight cut and works mostly arm side, 69-72 mph, 10-to-4 spin on breaking ball, late break, gradual, 58-62 mph, change up at 66-68 mph, slight cutting action.  

Kenan Payne, RHP, Holt HS (MO), 2019
Payne is a 6-foot-1 160-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Payne has a high three quarters release, slender frame with room to put on strength, throws with regular effort, works in line down the mound, fastball has slight downhill tilt, 67-69 mph, 12-to-6 curveball, gradual and early break, mostly 52-54 mph,

Ben Prywitch, LHP, Parkway Central HS (MO), 2019
Prywitch is a 6-foot-2 160-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Prywitch has an a high three quarters release, long and loose with projectable frame, high hands with leg lift, commands fastball with late life, running action, arm side, 77-81 mph, throws for strike, controllable 2-to-8 breaking ball, fastball arm speed, late break, mostly 70-72 mph, change up at at 75-77 mph, firm, athletic delivery with clean arm action, velocity and command will continue to develop.  
 

Zachary Robinson, RHP, Fort Zumwalt South HS (MO), 2019
Robinson is a 6-foot-3 205-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Robinson has a high three quarters release, repeats a simple delivery, accelerates down the mound, arms works, fastball at 78-81 mph, flashing late run, breaking ball has 10-to-4 action, 70-71 mph, change up at 73-75, fastball arm speed, above average arm side release, showed a cutter at 73-76 mph, sharp action, throws with regular effort and controlled tempo.

Carlos Santangelo, RHP, Chaminade HS (MO), 2019
Santangelo is a 6-foot 155-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Santangelo threw a high percentage of strikes with three pitches, high three quarters release, lean frame with projection, loose arm action, fastball showed slight run at 77-80 mph, 11-to-5 spin on breaking ball, early break, near fastball arm speed, 60-65 mph, more 10-to-4 action on slider, 71-72 mph, change up at 70-73 mph, flashes arm side sink, throws with smooth tempo and regular effort.  



Elijah Schumer, Lutheran South HS (MO), 2018
Schumer is a 5-foot-10 180-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. Schumer has a high three quarters arm slot, short arm circle, body stays under control during delivery, stays in line down the mound, fastball at 77-80 mph, has an 11-to-5 curveball, can be sharp at times, 66-68 mph, throws change up with fastball arm speed, sinking action, 75-76 mph, hides ball well in delivery, some deception not seeing ball until release, all pitches come out of same release point with near same arm speed.  

Chad Silvey, CBC HS (MO), 2019
Silvey is a 6-foot-1 195-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class. Silvey worked fastball at 71-74 mph, over the top release, body stays under control, smooth tempo in delivery, breaking ball has 11-to-5 action, gradual break, change up at 65-66 mph, straight, repeats delivery  

Danny Tharp, RHP, Waterloo HS (IL), 2018
Tharp is a 6-foot-1 160-pound right-handed pitcher in Illinois’ 2018 class. Tharp worked fastball at 73-77 mph, slight run, 11-to-5 breaking ball, 59-62 mph, gradual break, change up at 60-64 mph, downward action, lean frame with long arm circle out of glove, strides slightly across body. 

Austin Wright, RHP, Francis Howell Central HS (MO), 2019
Wright is a 6-foot-3 215-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2019 class.  Wright has an over the top release, accelerates down the mound, stay in line, fastball at 80-83 mph, flashes cutting action whens staying on top, 111-to-5 shape on curveball, 69-71 mph, throws for strike, gradual break, change up at 70-72 mph, some with cutting action, repeats delivery, throws with regular effort.
