Super 60 Player Preview: RHP Alex Lange (Lee's Summit West)

Super 60 Slide 2013

LangeOne of eight Class of 2014 player selected for the Super 60, RHP Alex Lange from Lee's Summit West will add the Super 60 to his impressive resume of high profile events, and contiune to impress MLB scouts. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Lange is the No. 2-ranked Class of 2014 prospect in our coverage area for a reason. Although his velocity at the Midwest Future Games was down a tick from earlier in the summer, he was still sitting at 89 mph with late arm-side life. More importantly, Lange’s 79-mph slider was the best pitch of the Midwest Future Games. It is a true wipeout slider, with sharp two-plane life.

Lange has a projectable frame and the tools to become a major impact player on the mound as he continues to progress in his young career. His arm works free and easy, with smooth mechanics and good rhythm. Lange's fastball sits typically 88-90, topping out at 92, with some arm side movement. His plus off speed pitches compliment his overpowering fastball.
