Super 60 Recap:SS Ryan Howard (Francis Howell Central)

By Ethan Silverman
Missouri Scouting Director

Ryan Howard
from Francis Howell Central was one of the bigger surprises at the Super 60. While his velocity from shortstop was down a tick (we have seen him up to 88-mph) and he his just finishsing hup basketball, the 6-foot-2, 190-pound Missouri recruit stl  showcased plenty of arm from shortstop (85 mph) while demonstrating athletic feet and solid range. He particularly impressed on his backhand deep in the hole. Offensively, Howard continued to open eyes with a balanced and aggressive plate approach, highlighted by quiet swing mechanics and advanced bat speed. Howard, who ran a 7.00 60, has a sturdy, athletic frame, one that has plenty of room to develop. If he continues to add strength, Howard may profile as a third baseman.

“The Super 60 overall was a great experience with great players, the amount of scouts in attendance was impressive. This showcase overall was one of the best I have attended,” said Howard. “I hope that my performance at the Super 60 will get my name out there and possibly an opportunity to hear my named called in the in the June Draft.”
