In game three, Team Missouri once again turned in a dominating effort on the mound and at the plate en route to a 10-5 victory over Team Ohio. Brad Archer (Lebanon HS) and Cole DuPont (Marquette) combined to throw a three hitter, and were aided by the powerful Missouri offense.
Missouri wasted no time getting on the board, scoring five runs before the first inning was halted. Brett Bond (Westminster) smacked a two RBI single putting Missouri up 2-0. After a walk, Nic Perkins (Francis Howell) showed his power once again, driving the ball to deep left center and collecting two RBIs and extending the lead to 4-0. Shane Benes (Westminster) followed with a hard line drive single allowing Perkins to cross the plate, putting Missouri up 5-0.
Missouri would piece together five more runs over the course of the next few innings, highlighted by a RBI single off the bat of Dalton Horstmeier (Fulton HS) in the second, a bases loaded walk to Colby Fitch (Hickman), and a sacrifice fly by Trey Turner (Neosho).
Brad Archer (Lebanon) started the game on the mound, and went four innings, surrendering two hits and three earned runs. His fastball sat 86-88 mph and keep batters off balance with a sharp breaking ball. Archer produced ground ball after ground ball during his outing. After a rough inning of work in Game 1, Cole DuPont rebounded and came back to show the make up of a workhorse on the mound. DuPont allowed one hit over three innings, and an earned run.
Not only was Team Missouri dominating on the mound and at the plate, they also showed to be an entertaining group of players who came together as a team, as evidenced by clip below.
Overall, Team Missouri ended the weekend with a 2-0-1 record and scored twenty-five-runs in three games. Every member of the Missouri team collected at least one hit, and the pitching was nearly flawless, dominating hitters in the three games played and giving up only nine earned runs.
