Blake McFadden's perfect game and Gage Jacobs's no hitter highlight first round of district play

Pitching performances highlighted day one of district play, with a Perfect Game from Blake McFadden from Savannah HS and a no-hitter by Gage Jacobs from Bolivar.

-McFadden (right) led No. 10 Savannah in their first round game, throwing a Perfect Game and leading Savannah to a 1-0 victory over Clinton.  McFadden struck out 14 batters and faced only one three ball count all afternoon. McFadden was also the offensive spark; reaching base all three plate appearances and coming round to scored the game’s only run on a passed ball in the bottom of the seventh.

-Bolivar RHP Gage Jacobs (left) no-hitter shut down Fair Grove 7-0. Jacobs had 14 strikeouts over 7 innings and didn't walk anyone. The only Fair Grove players to get on base did so by reaching on an error. Josh Chamberlain led the Bolivar offense with 2 RBIs.

-No. 1 SLUH had a first round bye, and will play on Tuesday against the winner of Chaminade/University City.

-No. 2 Staley squeaked by Oak Park, 11-10. Staley will face Kearney on Monday.

-No. 3 Rock Bridge has a first round bye, and won’t play until Wednesday, after rain washed out first round action on Saturday.

-No. 4 Francis Howell got rained out, their first round game against St. Dominic will be played on Monday.

-No. 5 CBC has a first round bye, and will play on Tuesday against the winner of DeSmet/Parkway North, after rain washed out first round action Saturday.

-No. 6 Kennett beat up on New Madrid Counth HS, 12-0. Logan Dollins picked up the win for Kennett.

-No. 7 Liberty defeated Platte City HS 7-2.  The Blue Jays will face Park Hill in the second round, setting up a potential showdown against Staley for the district championship.

-No. 8 Lee’s Summit West got by Sedalia Smith-Cotton 6 to 5. The Titans advance and will meet Lee’s Summit in the second round of district play on Monday.

-No. 9 Webb City beat Republic in 5 innings. It was the Tyler Burgess show in this game, going 2-for-2 at the plate with 4 RBIs and throwing all 5 innings, allowing 1 hit and striking out 7 batters.

-No. 11 Crystal City was rained out, and will play their first round game on Monday against Bourbon.

-No. 12 Pacific was rained out, and will play their first round game on Monday against Parkway West.

-No. 13 Notre Dame won their first round game, 13 to 0 in 5 innings against Doniphan. Eric Hayes and Cody Heisserer each had 3 RBIs, while Cody DeBrock added 2 RBIS.

-No. 14 Westminster was rained out on Saturday, and will play their first round game against Principia on Monday.

-No. 15 Willard defeated McDonald County HS 5 to 0. Willard will face Joplin on Monday in the second round of district play.

-No. 16 Boonville had a first round bye, and will play the winner of the California/Southern Boone County contest.

-No. 17 Kickapoo walloped Springfield Central 17 to 0 in 5 innings. Kickapoo will play Nixa on Monday in the second round of district play.

-No. 18 Farmington has a first round bye, and will play on Tuesday the winner of Sikeston/DeSoto.

-No. 19 Parkway South was rained out on Saturday, and will face Union HS in their first round of district play on Monday.

-No. 20 Oakville was rained out on Saturday. The Tigers will play Hillsboro on Monday in their first round game.

-No. 21 Valle Catholic has a first round bye, and will face the winner of Woodland and Kelly.

-No. 22 Vianney defeated Roosevelt 17 to 0 in 5 innings, in one of the only game is the St. Louis area that didn’t get rained out. Vianney will play the winner of DuBourg/Kirkwood on Tuesday afternoon.

-No. 23 St. Pius X beat up on East Kansas City HS, 10 to 0. Pius will face off against Richmond HS Monday evening.

-No. 24 Ladue was rained out on Saturday. Their first district game will be played Monday against Normandy.

-No. 25 Oran received a first round bye, and will play on Tuesday against the winner of the Leopold/Advance game that will be played on Monday.
