Prep Baseball Report Mississippi held the Mississippi Open on July 11 on the campus of Southwest Community College in Summit, MS.  The open event saw players from all across the state of Mississippi in attendance.

Today, we will break down the event position-by-postion, taking a look at infielders.  Although some infielders participated in other positions, this is just a break down of their performance as an infielder.  Players are listed in alphabetical order.

Infielders

+ Keonte Carter, 1B, Terry, 2019
Thick 5-foot-11, 205-pound frame. Right-handed hitter hitting from open, athletic setup with high hands.  Smooth load, subtle leg lift, with short stride landing balanced and on time. Left-center field approach, slight uphill path with solid bat speed producing an exit velocity of 87 mph. Infielder with average hands, developing footwork, clean exchanges while in athletic fielding baseball deep and on heels. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy and carry on throws, produced a positional velocity of 72 mph.

+ JaQuan Copeland, SS, Hazlehurst, 2020
Athletic 5-foot-11, 153-pound frame, with room for added strength. Displayed athleticism running 7.01 60-yard dash. Right-handed hitter hitting from tall, athletic setup with high hands.  Works backwards in load, really loading on backside, with short stride, and early rhythm. Left-center field approach, level path with developing bat speed producing an exit velocity of 81 mph. Infielder with average hands, static, developing footwork, clean exchange, fielding ball deep while working athletically. Short, stiff arm action into high-3/4 release, produced a positional velocity of 70 mph.

+ Devin Daniels, 2B, East Marion, 2020
Athletic 5-foot-6, 175-pound frame. Displayed athleticism running 6.74 60-yard dash. Right-handed hitter hitting from tall, athletic setup with high hands.  Works backwards in load, mechanically simple, sitting on back side. Slight up-hill path with developing bat speed producing an exit velocity of 76 mph. Infielder with average hands developing footwork, clean exchange, fielding ball deep while working through athletically. Short, stiff arm action into high-3/4 release, recorded a positional velocity of 71 mph.

+ Dexter Jordan, 3B, Hattiesburg, 2018
6-foot, 193-pound strong, athletic frame. As right-handed hitter starts tall , athlethic setup, with feet slightly wider than shoulder and hands in high position. Subtle leg lift to load and allow hand separation, getting into balanced hitting position on-time. Line drive type approach with level path and solid bat speed, producing an exit velocity of 88 mph. Infielder with soft hands, fluid footwork, gets in athletic position, clean exchanges while working through athletically. Short arm action into high-3/4 release, produced a positional velocity of 79 mph.

+ Cade Killingsworth, SS, North Pike, 2018
Athletic 6-foot-2, 175-pound frame, with room for added strength. Infielder showed soft hands and easy actions, solid arm strength with accuracy on throws, recording a positional velocity of 84 mph. Right-handed hitter hitting from tall, open, athletic setup with high hands and big rhythm. Works backwards in load, short stride, with solid balance. Left-center field approach, level path with easy effort, producing an exit velocity of 82 mph. Ran a 7.33 60-yard dash.

+ JT McCaffrey, SS, Bogue Chitto, 2021
Average 5-foot-4, 125-pound frame. Right-handed hitter hits from tall, balanced, athletic setup.  Works backwards in load with toe tap and loose rhythm, getting out on front side. Level swing with rotational path, and developing bat speed; produced exit velocity of 65 mph. Infielder with soft hands, developing footwork, quick, clean exchanges while playing through balls athletically. Stiff arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy, produced a positional velocity of 67 mph. Ran a 7.79 60-yard dash.

+ Landry McQueen, 2B, Seminary, 2018
Athletic 5-foot-8, 165-pound frame. Right-handed hitter hits from tall, athletic setup, working backwards in load, short stride, and loose rhythm in hands. Mechanically simple, with left-center field type approach with level swing path, early rhythm, and solid bat speed; produced exit velocity of 85 mph. Infielder with decent hands, fluid footwork and long, clean exchanges while playing through ball athletically. Long high-3/4 arm action with and accuracy and carry, recorded a positional velocity of 78 mph. Showed athleticism running a 7.09 60-yard dash.

Right-handed hitter hitting from tall, open, athletic setup with high hands.  Works backwards in load, short stride, on-time in balance hitting position. Left-center field approach, level path with developing bat speed producing an exit velocity of 79 mph. Infielder with average hands, developing footwork, clean exchanges while in athletic fielding baseball deep, working through athletically. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy, produced a positional velocity of 74 mph.

+ AJ Stinson, SS, Hattiesburg, 2018
Physical 6-foot, 190-pound frame. Infielder with soft hands, fluid footwork, gets in athletic position, clean exchanges while working through athletically. Short arm action into high-3/4 release, produced a positional velocity of 81 mph. Right-handed hitter hitting from tall, open, athletic setup with high hands.  Works backwards in load with subtle leg lift, short stride, on-time in balance hitting position. Left-center field approach, slight-up path with developing bat speed producing an exit velocity of 84 mph.

+ Cade Suber, 1B, Laurel Christian, 2019
Long, skinny 6-foot-2, 177-pound frame, with room for added strength. Infielder with average hands, developing footwork, slow, clean exchanges while fielding deep and in athletic position. Long arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy, produced a positional velocity of 75 mph. Right-handed hitter hitting from tall, wide, athletic setup with high hands.  Works backwards in load, mechanically simple, sitting on back side. Slight up-hill path with developing bat speed producing an exit velocity of 76 mph.

+ Brady Wilson, 3B, Parklane Academy, 2020
Athletic 6-foot, 185-pound frame. Left-handed hitter hitting from tall, athletic setup with high hands.  Subtle leg lift, working backwards in load, getting on backside with short stride, level swing path. Gap-to-gap approach, with slight up-hill path with developing bat speed producing an exit velocity of 76 mph. Infielder with soft hands, fluid footwork, quick, clean exchanges while playing through balls athletically. Loose arm action into high-3/4 release with accuracy, produced a positional velocity of 73 mph. Ran a 7.71 60-yard dash.
