Ardrey Kell Nips Rival Providence

By PBR Staff

On Tuesday, coming off of spring break conference rivals Ardrey Kell and Providence squared off for the second game of their conference series.  Ardrey Kell evened the score with the Panthers taking a hard fought 1-0 victory behind sophomore ace Trey Tujetsch (RHP, 2019).

Tujetsch dazzled working into the seventh, spreading out 4 hits and one walk, while striking out four.  Working ahead of 15 of the 23 batters he faced, Tujetsch threw 65% strikes.

The lone run came in the first, where McKinnon Garner (SS, 2017, UNC Asheville commit) led off with a single.  He then advanced to third on a single from Nathan Crenshaw (OF, 2017).  A ground ball to first from Cameran Brantley (OF, 2018, UNC commit) would drive McKinnon in with the lone, and winning run.

For Providence, Junior RHP Timmy Townsend battled and competed for five plus innings.  Without his best stuff, Townsend would work in and out of jams, consistently giving Providence the chance to mount a comeback.  Kell would record three of their five hits in the first, but 5 hitters reached via hit-by-pitch.
