Scouting Report

01.28.17

A young build with athleticism in the 6-foot, 170 pound frame.  Plenty of room to continue to add strength.  Flashed quickness and strength running a 4.10 thirty and recording a 8-foot-4 standing broad jump.  Good feel for the barrel from the right handed hitter.  Starts from a tall stance with a smooth load back and short stride.  Better than average bat speed worked with a level, gap-to-gap approach, producing line drives throughout the session.  Quiet and balanced, continually took a vertical barrel to the baseball.  Exit velocity topped at 84.  Behind the plate, uses short feet and a quick release to produce pop times ranging 1.99-2.07.  Average accuracy, works to a vertical base early in the exchange.

11.06.16

Flashed athleticism throughout the workout.  Stands 5-foot-11, 165 pounds and ran his sixty in 7.18.  From behind the plate, pop times ranged 2.06 – 2.24.  The exchange and arm action plays with some stiffness, but there is quickness in the actions.  Topped at 71 mph with arm strength from the crouched position.  In the box, works from a tall stance, with a smooth load and a longer rhythmic stride.  Vertical bat created average batspeed and left the barrel thin through the zone at times.  Handsy swing, stayed gap-to-gap with decent rhythm.  Exit velocity topped at 82mph.

10.10.16
Solid base with loose hips behind the dish.  Presents a wide target for pitchers to throw to.  Good footwork and quick transfer with a current average arm.  Hands are good but get stiff at times.  Manages pitchers well.  Hits from a wide, crouched stance with hands drawn back past his shoulders.  Small knee-knock stride with slight hitch of hands.  Solid bat speed through the zone
