The commitment to work and get better can be measured but is sometimes lost in the scope of time.  Justin Wilkins made significant jumps in arm strength and athleticism from mid-2016 until last week when he made a commitment to High Point University.  A produce of the 5 Star Baseball program in North Carolina and Hough HS, Wilkins has turned himself into a good defensive player with an ability to commit to a division 1.  Track the progress Wilkins made in the last year through his PBR Profile.

Scouting Report

05.21.17
Good defender with athleticism showing in his ability to receive, transfer and release the ball.  Average frame with room to add strength, ran a 7.13 sixty.  Short arm stroke from a high, easy transfer leads to a high-¾ slot producing carry and flashing some accuracy.  Exit velocity out of the hand topped at 75 mph.  Pop times ranged 2.01 - 2.17.  Quick and fluid, times have a chance to continue to improve as the body matures.  Offensively, the right handed hitter works from a balanced stance loading back with a short stride.  Works level with a pull tendency.  Bat speed can improve.  Exit velocity off the barrel topped at 80mph.

09.05.16
Thin frame that can add strength, listed at 5-10, 165 pounds.  Showed a loose arm with pop times ranging from 2.28-2.39, while topping at 74mph from the crouch.  Offensively, the right handed hitter tends to get a little long early, sweeping the bat through the zone.  As he shortened down, the barrel came into play more.  Registered a top end exit velocity of 76mph.  Ran his sixty in 7.44, on a soft surface.
