Prep Baseball Report has our staff spread out across North Carolina throughout the week covering as many spring break tournament and games as possible.  Below is a breakdown of some of the games and prospects seen.

Thursday April 20th

Shelby Easter Tournament

Crest Scores Early to Coast to Title

A six run spot in the first gave Crest HS enough cushion to win the Shelby Easter Tournament.  CJ Mayew (LHP, 2019) worked four innings, striking out five.  Lawson Harrill provided the big blow with a triple in the first, scoring 2.  Harrill would score on an error on the play, providing a 6-0 lead.

Gaston County Easter Tournament

Cherryville Outlasts North Gaston in 9 for the Title

Austin Primm (RHP/1B, 2018) was very good over 8 innings for North Gaston but the combination of Noah Eaker (RHP, 2017) and Will Walker matched the effort.  In the top of the 9th, a walk and sacrifice bunt put Jared Emory in scoring position.  With 2 outs, Austin Treadway singled moving the winning run to 3B.  Jonathan McSwain then hit a hard ground ball, reaching on an error, scoring Emory.  Carlton Jackson worked a scoreless 9th to record the save and capture the title for the Ironmen.

Mooresville Easter Tournament

Hickory Ridge Takes the Crown over Lincoln Charter

Future college roommates Nick Roser and John-Riley Hathcock (Francis Marion) squared off as starters in pitch count shortened outings.  Offensively, the stars shined for the Ragin Bulls as they capped off a tremendous week.

Tuesday April 18th

Gaston County Easter Tournament – Gastonia, NC

Cherryville Blitzes East Gaston – Advances to Championship

Nine runs in the first three innings sealed the fate of East Gaston, as Cherryville jumped to the big lead.  East Gaston would answer in the 6th and 7th, stringing together several good at-bats, but the game was never in jeopardy.

North Gaston Wins Wild One with Walk-Off

A game that saw three ties and a two run seventh force extra innings, results with North Gaston advancing to face Cherryville in the Championship.

+  With 2 outs in the 8th, Jackson Finger singled.  A walk moved him to scoring position.  Femin Osio then singled, scoring Finger and giving North Gaston the win
+  Jack Lowery (2019) started and worked 4 innings, striking out 4 and allowing 3 hits
+  Austin Primm (2018) – 2-4 with 1 RBI
+  Dalton Williams (2018) – 1-3 with a double and a run scored

Forestview
+  Billy Todd (LHP) started on the bump working 3.2 innings allowing 3 runs on 4 hits

Monday April 17th

East Rowan Easter Invitational                  

West Rowan Leans on Love

In the semi-final game of the Invitational, UNC signee Austin Love pitched a complete game topping the Charlotte Stallions to lead the Falcons to victory. The Falcons put up all the runs they needed in the second inning.

Brown's 1st Inning Holds Up

AL Brown rebounded from a last inning loss the night before to take the bronze medal of the F&M Invitational behind lefty Ryan O'Kelly's 3 hit complete game shut out and run scoring single.

Championship Game – Lake Norman Walks-Off

The Lake Norman Wildcats won the F&M Classic on a walk off walk in the bottom of the seventh inning in a hard fought and well played game.

Carson Walks-off Over AL Brown to Advance to Championship

Semi Final of the F & M Bank Intimidator Invitational. In a tight well played game the Carson Cougars broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the 7th for a walk off victory and trip to the Championship game versus Lake Norman on Monday.
