As the spring season winds down, PBR will take a look at some of the uncommitted seniors still working through their process.  First up is CIF/C, Luke Parks from Sun Valley HS in Indian Trail, NC.

Luke Parks

PBR has run into parks three times this spring, making note of loud contact on each occasion.  An aggressive mindset in the box, with an increased barrel awareness has led to a big senior year, which has Sun Valley on the verge of a state playoff appearance.

In the semi-finals of his conference tournament, Parks went 3-3 with three hits off of ECU commit, Jake Kuchmaner.  Fighting off a good 86mph fastball in with two strikes, Parks singled to right field in the second.  In his second at-bat, ahead in the count, the barrel got to a fastball, hammering a single in the six-hole.  The final plate appearance saw Parks pause with the recognition of spin, prior to hitting a line drive over the shortstop's head.

Per MaxPreps, Parks is hitting .402 with 5 home runs and 29 RBI.  The home run and RBI tally have him ranked in NC in the MaxPreps database.

Scouting Report

11.19.16

Physical at 6-foot, 205 pounds, still flashed athleticism running his sixty in 7.36.  Strength showed in the swing, with exit velocity topping at 97mph and aggression on every swing taken.  Right handed hitter works from a slightly open stance with an average stride working back to an even base.  The load takes the bat to a vertical alignment, creating whip and bat speed as the swing work level through the zone.  Wants extension, staying gap-to-gap, throughout BP.  Fluid rhythm, occasionally late with the load, led to average barrel awareness.  From the crouch, flashed arm strength, touching 75mph.  Pop Times ranged 2.23-2.39 with accuracy.  Long arm action and long feet, leads to some transfer issues.  Arm strength played on the infield, showing carry and accuracy, while measuring at 78mph.  Feet tend to get heavy with some stabbing action in the hands.  More athleticism in the body than showed on the infield.
