Name:
Jacob Mohler
Position: RHP
Class: 2016
Height/Weight: 6-foot-4, 195-pounds
High School: Louisville
Commitment:  Iowa Central Community College

PBR: Why did you choose the school you did?
MOHLER: I chose Iowa Central Community College because I for sure wanted to go the JUCO route. I felt like Iowa Central was a good fit for me. I liked the campus and how they make education a priority. The coach made me feel welcome and assured me that I was going to play a key role in the pitching staff as a Triton.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
MOHLERBefore Iowa Central contacted me, I was looking at Iowa Western, University of Nebraska at Omaha, and University of Nebraska at Lincoln as a walk on. I was also approached by numerous Division 2 schools for football, which I didn't necessarily want to do, but it was an option.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?
MOHLERIowa Central's coaching staff first saw me when we played at State in Battle Creek. Ever since then, I received welcoming texts and phone calls asking to take a visit to Fort Dodge. Once I went for a visit and they offered me, we've kept in touch by phone calls. All of the coaches on staff have a lot of experience and they are real down to earth people who will take the time to help me and coach me.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?
MOHLERI do feel relieved that I have picked a school and I can just finish out my last Legion season having fun with my high school teammates not having to worry about picking a school to play for.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?
MOHLERA deciding factor for me to play at Iowa Central was that it was somewhat close to home, yet far enough away if that makes any sense. I love that I will basically have all of the opportunities of a bigger school while being at a community college.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
MOHLERI would have to say that my parents have helped me most to get me where I am today. From all of the countless hours and miles to and from practices and games, my parents were there for me every step of the way. I am incredibly thankful for all that they have done for me in my life, not just for baseball.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?
MOHLERMy expectations for the recruiting process was that I would have to do a lot of workout sessions for colleges, but I never really had to. I would say that my workouts consisted of going to showcases in the summer and fall as well as what I did in my legion season. It was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be.

PBR:What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?
MOHLER: The coaching staff and I have plans of me playing a key role in the pitching staff. I know that Coach Meyer is going to work with me a lot to gain velocity and teach me how to take care of my arm better.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
MOHLERMy most memorable baseball moment up to date would have to be this past year at state baseball. Previously in the tournament, we had lost to our rival EMN, but now in the championship series we had a shot at revenge. Since we had lost one game already, they had to beat us once while we had to beat them twice. In the first game, we struggled to generate any offense. All we could string together was two runs. This was enough to win the game as EMN only scored one run. On to the winner take all game. Now having to play seven innings before this game, we were confident that we could win. EMN had now run out of pitching and from the first pitch of the game, it was like we were a new team. We were the team of old putting together three runs in the first inning. EMN didn't have an answer and they knew they were defeated. The final score ended up 8-1. My team and I dog-piled for the third consecutive year. That was the best moment in my baseball career at LWW.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?
MOHLERI would say that the best player that I have competed against would have to be my catcher Matthew Krambeck. Yes, he currently plays with me on my Legion team, but when we were younger, we played against each other in Papillion. Now that I committed to Iowa Central, we will be playing each other again when we face Des Moines Area Community College. This kid has a serious motor and will do anything for him and his team to win. He is a major competitor, and I wish him the best of luck at DMACC.
