PBR: Why did you choose Wichita State?

I chose Wichita State because they are a baseball school with great tradition. The facilities are top notch and the location works well for my family.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

I was considering sever schools in the Midwest.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?

Coach Steele, the Wichita State pitching coach, first saw me pitch at a tournament in St. Louis.  We were in contact soon after and after our first conversations I knew I liked him.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?

Yes I do feel very relieved that the process is over. I know I picked the right school and am happy to just focus on my senior season and working to get better.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?

The visit I had to Wichita St. went very well and everything about it was comfortable. The campus and the people I got to meet were a deciding factor. I also got to meet the head coach, Coach Butler, and he got me excited about the direction of their program.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?

There were many people that have helped me get to where I am today. My head coach Brandon Dahl has been invested in helping me become a better competitor and gain arm strength. My pitching coach Tom Oldham has helped me believe that I can compete at this level. Finally my select baseball coach Jerry Hurt, who coached me from age 9 to 14 and taught me all the fundamentals.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?

The process was more difficult than I had expected. Impressing a college coach and trying to find a good fit at a school that worked for both academics and baseball is not easy.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?

The plan is for me to contribute out of the bullpen my freshman year.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?

Pitching and winning the district championship game this year against the eventual state champions.

PBR: Who is the best player you have played against?
Cole Stobbe, he was the best shortstop and hitter I have played against.
