UBA Elite-Nebraska Prospect Tournament Scout Blog - Sunday




UBA Omaha Elite-Nebraska Prospects Invitational 
is being held in the Omaha area on Saturday, September 23rd and Sunday, September 24th, 2017. There were 7 pools in the tournament with predominantly upperclass players in attendance. 

The Scout Blog will be updated throughout the weekends with notes from the games attended by the PBR staff.

NE Prospects-Hohl vs. Elite Baseball Academy (MO) 

+ 2019 Will Rolhson, LHP, was 78-82 mph from a high 3/4 arm a slot. Smooth long arm action with feel for looping 62-66 mph breaking ball. 

+ '18 Shay Schanaman, RHP/INF, Nebraska baseball commit was was 86-90 mph with his fastball. Had two hits in the game. 

+ Nebraska commit- 2018 Kyle Perry, OF/LHP, had two singles at the plate.

+ Uncommitted LHP, 2018 Rece Synder, sat 80-85 mph in two innings of work. Flashed a 11/7 shaped breaking ball at 72-73 mph. 

Dauby Sports (SD) vs. NE Prospects-Leighton 

+ Riley Kirkpatrick, LHP, NE Prospects
Tall projectable frame. Fastball sat 78-80 and ran up to 82 occasionally. Breaking ball sat in 69-70 mph range. Breaking ball was a good pitch to RHH and was inconsistent to LHH. Strike thrower.

+ Treyton Randall, IF, NE Prospects
Strong, physical frame. Hit a HR and 2B. Showed pop to pull side in game action

+ Derek Holtorf, INF, NE Prospects
Tall, strong LHH. HR to CF and a 2B to LC. Full field approach and pop to all fields.

+ Tanner Black, OF, NE Prospects
2 Hits, 2 R, hard line drives to pull side, + Runner.

Peak Performance White 

+ '18 Brady Gavin, RHP, Peak Performance White
6-8, 225-pounds. Uncommitted. OT slot. 86-89 mph with varying cut and run action. Inconsistent breaking ball shape thrown at 77-80 mph. Hybrid cutter/slider. Both pitches are heavy with occasional late life. Imposing presence on mound- projects physically- solid/avg. command.

NE Prospects-Kenny vs. Iowa Sticks Red

+ '19, RHP/SS, Will Moritz struck out 13 in 7 innings of work. FB topped at 86, sat 81-84 throughout. Showed advance feel for commanding the strike zone. 

+ '19 Garrett Kennedy, OF, Nebraska Prospects- smoke a triple to left field. Also had a stolen base after walking in the 7th. 

+ '19 Nate White, LHP, Nebraska Prospects- fastball sat 74-78 mph from a mid 3/4 arm slot. Some funk in delivery, struck out 4 in 4 innings of work. 

Sioux Falls East vs. Complete Game

+ Brandon Ford, RHP, Sioux Falls East
FB 74-77, CB 63-64, CH 63-66

+ Jacob Lincoln, RHP, Sioux Falls East
FB 75-78, CB 65-67, CH 68-69, able to mix spots and pitches to generate soft contact. Heavy K thrower

+ Xavier Hammond, OF, Complete Game
2-2, 2B, 2 R, + athlete with fluid motions at plate and in OF, was best player on the field this morning, 2B would have been a 3B had it not bounced over CF fence.

IA Sticks Scout vs. Omaha Elite Black

Through 4 innings the IA Sticks Scout held a 3-0 advantage over Omaha Elite Black. Elite stormed back scoring 3 runs in the 5th and 3 in the 6th. The Iowa Sticks stranded runners at second and third base in the seventh; for a 6-4 win by Omaha Elite.

+ Uncommitted ’18 Carter Troncin was 84-85 mph; flashing an above avg. breaking ball at 73-74 mph. Troncin worked quickly on mound throwing a high % of strikes in contest for the IA Sticks.

+ Sticks uncommitted ’18 Dalton Hews had 2 singles in the contest. Small athletic frame- left-handed hitter, with solid contact to pull side of plate.

+ ’18 TJ Mahoney has continued to hit since the summer. In his first at-bat; smoked a hard line drive single up the middle. Followed up with a hard line drive at the first baseman- hitting into an L-3-U double play.

+ ‘18’s Colby Gomes and Braydan Hlavac each had 2-run homers in the contest. Both had 2 homeruns on the weekend.

+ ’18 Cade Povich, LHP, recent South Mountain CC commit; pitched the middle innings in relief throwing 78-80 mph incorporating a 3-pitch mix throwing all three in any count stifling the Sticks offense.

+ ’18 Caiden Hill, Southeast CC (NE) commit, worked out of a jam in 7th inning stranding runners at 2nd and 3rd for the save. Hill mixes arm slots, competes well on mound, and was 77-79 mph for strikes.
