Massachusetts Spotlight Game: Central Catholic vs St. Peter Marian

Worchester, Ma. – Central Catholic went on the road today to St Peter Marian and narrowly escaped with a 6-5 win. Central came in with a lot of hype surrounding their pitching as they have the two  D1 commits in 2017 Sam Lara (St John's) and 2017 Steven Hajjar (Michigan). But today they went with St Anselm commit, Will Conaton

Central got the scoring started in the 3rd. Junior Jack Delaney singled to LF, fellow junior Joe Sanchez bunted him over to 2B. Junior Noah Lucier drove him in with a single to CF.

Marian took the lead in the bottom of the 4th, when 8 batters came to the plate scoring 5. PJ Barry provided big shot, with a 2 run single.

That lead was short lived as Central answered back in the top of the 5th, sending 9 men to the plate and scoring 4 of their own. Mike Pierro had a 2 out 2-run double that would prove to be the game winner.

Top Performances on the day

  • Mike Pierro: 2 out 2 run double in the top of the 5th. Also six strong innings, allowing 3 hits and one walk while striking out 8.
