Massachusetts Spotlight Game: Lincoln Sudbury vs St. John's Prep

Lincoln Sudbury, Ma. – Two of the top teams in Massachusetts faced off Monday morning at Lincoln Sudbury High School. Both teams sent their best arms to the mound in what would be a great game in which the St. John’s Prep Eagles would win 5-0.

Lincoln Sudbury sent 6-foot-5 Junior righty Ryan Cusick (Wake Forest Commit) to the mound while St. Johns Prep sent senior righty and MIT commit Casey Bussone to the mound.

St. John’s Prep would get on the board in the top of the third as uncommitted junior DH Joe Muzio singled over the second baseman’s head, stole second, would move to third on an infield single, and score on a wild pitch. The game would stay 1-0 until the top of the seventh when St. John’s Prep would add four insurance runs. Senior Andrew Selima (College of the Holy Cross commit) would drive in two of those runs when he hit a double to center field with the bases loaded.

Both Cusick and Bussone had impressive performances on the mound as they dominated through six and seven innings respectively.

Top Performances on the day

• Ryan Cusick: Attacked early and often striking out 14 in six innings of work.
• Casey Bussone: Went seven strong innings giving up no runs in a dominating performance. Attacked in the zone with all pitches while walking one and scattering five hits.
• Andrew Selima: 2-4 at the plate with 2 doubles, 2 RBIs, aggressive lefty swinging bat.
