Massachusetts Spotlight Game: Saint Mark's vs Roxbury Latin

In an Independent School League match-up between Saint Mark's School (6-7-1) and Roxbury Latin (9-8), both teams threw two talented RHP’s that showed an ability to compete and overpower their opponents.

This was the first time these two talented teams matched up this spring and Roxbury Latin came out on top of Saint Mark’s 6-5.

Both teams showed aggressiveness in early innings making the score tied 3-3 after 2 innings.

Neither team scored for two straight innings due to solid performances silencing bats from both pitchers CJ McKennitt (SM) and Will Greer (RL).

Saint Mark’s Wyatt Scotti had four hits on the day while Roxbury Latin collected ten hits with multiple hits from Joe Lomuscio, Kee, Knight, and McGrath.

RL’s Ryan and Morris each had hits on the day as well. Saint Mark’s had RBI’s from Nugent, Gattuso, and Scotti. RL’s McGrath had 3 RBI’s on the day leading his team to a 6-5 victory.

Top Prospects

Saint Mark’s

• CJ McKennitt junior Holy Cross commit RHP/IF - sat 84-86 with a tight BB and an ability to keep hitters off balance, showed a smooth contact swing that produced base hits
• Wyatt Scotti freshman IF - base hit swing producing 4 hits and an RBI, going to be a very interesting prospect to follow through his HS career
• Gunnar Vachris sophomore DH - simple lefty swing that slapped balls over the field. Solid competitor.

Roxbury Latin

• Joe Lomuscio senior Brown commit OF/LHP - thin RHH with a swing that makes balls fly off the bat. 5 tool gamer. Heavy FB sat at 76-80 while BB sat 64-67.
• Michael Rounds senior OF/RHP PG at Phillips Exeter - tall athletic build with room to fill out. Smooth contact swing. Interesting prospect
• Ben Rounds sophomore OF - LH slap hitter that spays balls over the field. Strong arm from the OF. Could be a high level player
• Will Greer sophomore RHP - smooth RHP with a repeated delivery. FB sat 80-82 with a 67-69 BB that he relies on.
