New England Editor in Chief/Scout

On July 30th through August 1st, PBR New England will take a select team of players in the Classes of 2017 and 2018 to represent the New England states at the PBR Future Games in Indianapolis at Grand Park.

Players receive exposure unlike any other event for underclassmen. Last year, 100+ colleges from all over the country were in attendance, including coaches from every Division I power conference in the country. Only players who have a legitimate shot at being a Division I recruit and who have an interest in the possibility of making a verbal commitment during their sophomore or junior seasons have been considered.

Team New England Future Games Spotlight: Jonathan Morrison, RHP

Jonathan MorrisonName: Jonathan Morrison
Position: RHP
Class: 2018
Height/Weight: 6-foot-4, 195 pounds
High School: Hopkins Academy
Summer Team(s): NE Royals

Past Showcase/In-Game Performances:
Date: 6/30/15
Scouting Report: Big and long right-handed arm. Touched 82 mph out of a high leg lift and coil delivery that he repeats well. The fastball has leverage and arm-side run to it. The breaking pitch is still being harnessed but got to 74 mph, the shape and form are correct. The changeup is a work in progress as he needs to throw it for it to continue to improve. The length and size of his body lead you to believe the future is a bright one for this young man.

Date: 12/6/14
Scouting Report: Long and lean, 6-foot-3,190-pound right-handed pitcher who has a great deal of potential. Slightly higher than 3/4 slot with a little head lean during arm swing. Fastball was 79-82 mph with good arm-side action and life. Showed a 69 mph breaking ball and also an above average slider at 74 mph. Changeup was 71 mph but still has a ways to go. Nice easy leg lift and frame to work with as he matures. Impressive showing for a young 2018 arm.
