Class AA Final Four / The Breakdown

Massapequa (Section 8)

Key Contributors:
Luke O'Mahoney, Johnny Castagnozzi, Chris Watson
Semifinal Matchup:
vs. McQuaid; 5:30pm at Maine-Endwell HS
Prediction:
Offense led by O'Mahoney and Wasson. Freshman 3B Castagnozzi has played mature beyond his years and has really made an impact. They will pitcher either Dam Gdanski or Nick Collins. They combined to defeat Commack in the Long Island regionals.

McQuaid Jesuit (Section 5)

7 Defeated Clarence in the Far West Regional, knocked off Rush-Henrietta in the Section V Class AA final, 3-2. Prior to that they beat Victor and Gates-Chili.
Key Contributors:
Tyler Cyrus, Erik Johnson, Billy Kehrig, Hunter Walsh, Tyler Griggs
Semifinal Matchup:
vs. Massapequa; 5:30pm at Maine Endwell HS
Prediction:
Extremely deep squad that will look to put pressure on the defense; has been battled tested in Section 5. Not one player that will kill you but a number of them that will keep coming at you. No easy outs 1-through-9.

Kingston (Section 9)
Record: 20-4
Road to Binghamton:
Took down a Cinderalla team in Arlington in the regionals, defeated Valley Central in the Section finals.
Key Contributors:
Avery Short, Tyler Kelder, Jeff Hayner, Fritz Genther
Semifinal Matchup:
vs. Liverpool; 3pm at Maine Endwell HS
Prediction: Kingston's biggest opponent right now can be rust, having only played 3 postseason games since the regular season ended on May 18th. Three quality arms and a fundamentally sound squad stands as good of chance as anyone else in this field to bring it home. Expect Short, the Siena commit, to get the ball in the semifinal with Kelder and Hayner available. The Tigers have thrown 10 shutouts on the year.

Liverpool (Section 3)
Record: 21-3
Road to Binghamton: Defeated #1 ranked Niskayuna 5-3 to advance, defeated Rome Free Academy in Section finals.
Key Contributors: Jake Evans, Nick Antonello, Joel Ciccarelli, Jeffrey DeStefano, Jonah Harder
Semifinal Matchup: vs. Kingston; 3pm at Maine-Endwell HS
Prediction: DeStefano carries the load on the mound, racking up 6 wins with a 0.96 ERA and 56K over 51 IP, also leads team with a .458 avg. Deep lineup that handled Nisky's top arm, Stony Brook bound Nick Insognia, in the regional and squaked by RFA and Bryant bound RHP Tyler Schoff. Expect to see one of the best matchups of the year in the semifinal with Kingston.

Our Thoughts

"Talk about talent laden rosters...The Kingston-Liverpool matchup with have six D1 commits getting after it with Liverpool most likely facing their 3rd straight D1 pitcher. McQuaid and Massapeaqua will be a dogfight, both with scrapper mindsets. When you get to the large school matchups, depth and being able to use your bench and having that 4th arm will be the difference. If Kingston can figure out DeStefano in the semifinal, they win it all."
