Danny Hobbs (NY) Showing He Has The Stuff

When the country, in general, talks about baseball in the Northeast, one thing always seems to be lacking—respect. I'm a Northeastern product myself so argue my point if you will, but facts are facts, and the North just is not equipped to produce countless high school draft picks, year after year. Florida, Georgia, Texas and California get the attention, and rightfully so. Year after year, high-level baseball players filter through the doors of these warm weather states like a well-oiled machine. The Northern kids, especially New York players, as a whole, will always be playing catch-up. With that being said New York high school baseball has been getting some well-deserved love as of late, compliments of OF Garrett Whitley (Niskayuna HS, 2015) and RHP Ian Anderson (Shenendehowa HS, 2016).

Whitley, a highly-athletic OF with upside projects to be a high draft pick next month. Anderson, already committed to Vanderbilt, has touched 93 mph this spring and will likely have pro scouts following him closely this summer and into next spring. What do these players have in common? They both reign from New York's Capital district (Albany, NY). Which is where another prospect is starting to generate some attention, his name is Danny Hobbs......
