AdPro 17U 1 Baldwinsville Swarm 0
Ryan Mansell hurled a 3-hitter to come out on top of this pitcher’s duel. Mansell struck out eight and walked one. Sitting 79-81 MPH with his fastball and handcuffing batters with a 72 MPH change-up that he buried low at the plate, retired eight of the first nine he faced and allowed just one ball out of the infield over the last three innings. He needed every ounce of his efforts. Mansell’s counterpart Jason Savacool set down 11 on strikes in a spectacular performance. The righty, who just finished his freshman season, sat 81-82 MPH with his fastball and ran it up to 84 MPH. Savacool mixed in a change-up at 76-77 MPH that barrels could not locate. He faced the minimum the first time through the order. Savacool allowed just three hits and only one ball out of the infield. AdPro’s Nick Torgalski reached base all three times going 1-for-1 with two walks. The shortstop worked a one-out walk in the fourth and moved to second on an errant pickoff attempt. Mansell moved the runner with an infield single, and Torgalski came home on another error.

Dylan Richards made it a 5-2 game with a base hit down the right field line. Tarby looked to escape the jam with an out at the plate and strike out, but Jonathan Eaton delivered a two-run double. Dutcher came on in relief and stranded the tying run at third getting the only batter he faced. Ryan Kerley doubled to start the game for Southern Tier and eventually scored on an Owen Dando sacrifice fly.
