First Ever Winter Baseball Combine Set For Jan. 2/3 In Orchard Park, NY

Dan Cevette
Director, New York

We are proud to bring New York State its first ever Winter Baseball Combine this year in Orchard Park, NY. The PBR NY scouting combine is a showcase where high school baseball players perform physical tests and baseball drills in front of the PBR New York scouting staff, college coaches, and pro scouts.

For players with serious next-level baseball goals this unique event will allow you to not only showcase your baseball skill-set, but show your athletic capabilities and projection at the next level. As a former Professional Baseball Player of 11 years, I was always amazed at how important "combine" tests were in baseball. In every organization I played for these tests would be performed before any baseball activity during spring-training. College coaches are no different in how they view these tests. The ability to present these test results to our 450+ coaches and pro scouts that subscribe to PBR, will undoubtedly give players a much needed edge. Here's what’s on the Lineup:

Bio-Mechanical Screening Test - Done by a certified physical therapist to evaluate players flexibility, mobility, grip strength, shoulders and hips.

10 Yard Dash Test - Done to test players quickness and explosiveness

5/10/5 Pro-Agility Test - Done to test players agility

Broad Jump Test - Done to test players horizontal explosiveness in lower body

Vertical Leap Test - Done to test players vertical explosiveness in lower body

Medicine-Ball Launch Test - Done to test players upper body strength

After all combine tests are performed players will take part in the baseball skill-set aspect of the showcase. Players will take ground-balls, hit BP, and have bat-speed exit velocities recorded. Catchers will block, receive, and show footwork and arm strength. Pitchers Only will throw light bullpens to show mechanics, arm action and makeup with no concern on velocity.
