Hamburg 8 - Sweet Home 5

In what one would think was to set up as a pretty lop sided game, the Sweet Home Panthers came out and surprised the top ranked team in Class A, the Hamburg Bulldogs.  On the mound for the Bulldogs was Senior Binghamton University commit Cameron Ringo.  Ringo threw 4 innings of no hit baseball until allowing a hit in the 5th and then battling out with runners on the corners to finish his day allowing no runs and striking out 5.  Ringo was dominant on the mound showing a FB that reached 87mph along with some + off-speed.  On the mound for Sweet Home was senior Kevin Torillo.  Though not overpowering Torillo was able to keep a tough hitting team in check for much of the game.

In the bottom of the first Junior Austin O'Shei drew a walk and continued to steal both second and third before being driven in by Cameron Ringo.  Senior David Edie then singled and scored on an error on a hard hit ball to short by Dan Reilly.  In the 3rd Edie and Reilly worked together again when Edie led off with a single and was soon driven in by an RBI single from Reilly.  In the bottom of the 4th Hamburg had a chance to really put the dagger in but left bases loaded after Ryan Dils started the inning with a lead-off single.  In the bottom of the 5th Junior Outfielder Jason Lucarelli showed some speed on the bases when he led off the inning with an infield single getting down the line at a 4.1 from the left side.  He then proceeded to steal second without a problem and then took third on an overthrow.  It wasn't long after that we saw Lucarelli get a great timing read on the pitcher and steal home for the Bulldogs to give them their 4th run,.

In the top of the 6th the Panthers came out swinging after a pitching change by the Bulldogs.  Senior lead off man Jordan Evert started the rally with a single followed by an RBI single from Senior first baseman RJ Richeal both sophomore Shaun Whitehead and Senior Joshua Hammer came up with RBI singles as well.  When the inning was over the Panthers had taken a 5-4 lead.  Their lead however was short lived because the strongest part of the Bulldog lineup was due up.  Senior leadoff man Jake Mertowski singled up the middle to get things going followed by an RBI line drive double to right by Austin O'Shei to tie the game.  Cameron Ringo then knocked in the go ahead run plating O'shei with a hard single.  Junior infielder Griff Demayo was able to tack on some insurance with an RBI single of his own.

Junior Austin O'shei came in from shortstop and ended up getting the win on the mound for the Bulldogs.  The bulldogs showed a lot of heart in a tight game today getting production from all over the lineup to get the win.  All seasons they've shown signs of a team with great potential in the playoff and showed it yet again today.
