The Prep Baseball Report staff have finished their OF reports from Oct. 18th in Latham NY. Here is an in-depth look at the OF that attended our Last Chance Showcase

Jordan Bernacet, 1B/OF, Schenectady HS, NY (2015)
10/18 - Bernacet stands at 5-foot-9, 170-pounds with a solidly built frame. In the OF he really impressed showing great instincts to the ball, clean transfer, smooth arm action, throws from a high-3/4 slot with above average arm strength at 84 mph, really gets the most from his body. At the plate the lefty has a smooth balanced approach. Short path, slightly uphill path, long extension out in front, high finish, shows above average exit velocity and hand speed at 85 mph. 4.31 home to first time, 4.47 pro agility time.

Jake Generali, MIF/OF, Bethlehem HS, NY (2015)
Generali stands 5-foot-9, 175-pounds with a lean, but solid frame. From the OF he shows the most projection. Very athletic, runs well evidenced by his 4.19 home to first time, he moves swiftly to the ball, fields out in front cleanly, fast exchange, quick hand speed and release, 85 mph arm strength from a high-3/4 slot. Projects as an OF at the next level. At the plate he uses a back load, leg lift and stride on the pitch. Bottom arm locks up on the load. Drives hands to the ball, bat plane is level through the plane, some extension through contact, shoulder height finish, falls forward. Pro agility time was 4.18 showing above average athleticism.

Brien Hollowood, OF, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake HS, NY (2015)
Hollowood stands 6-foot-3, 165-pounds with a projectable frame that will hold more size. From the OF he charges ball, fields out in front, clean transfer, arm action is long, throws from an over-the-top slot, arm strength at 77 mph. At the plate he uses a wide approach. On the pitch picks his front leg up for timing, no stride, short path, level through contact, some extension, shoulder height finish, exit velocity was 82 mph off a tee. Home to first time was 4.4, pro agility time was 4.47.

Zach Durfee, OF, Ballston Spa HS, NY (2016)
Durfee stands 5-foot-11, 170-pounds with an athletic frame. From the OF he stays behind the ball, fields outside of his glove side, quick exchange, needs to get his footwork down better, long arm action, throws from a high-3/4 slot, arm strength at 83 mph with carry. From the plate his setup is wide. On the pitch no stride, drives his hands inside the ball, short path, level through the zone, extension out in front, shoulder height finish, exit velocity was 75 mph off a tee, home to first time was 4.51, pro agility time was 4.28.

Alexander Lavigne, OF, Shenendehowa HS, NY (2015)
Lavigne stands 5-foot-11, 165-pounds with good athletic size. From the OF he charges the ball hard, fields outside of his glove side, long arm action, over-the-top slot, arm strength at 81 mph. He uses a crow hop to gain momentum and finishes hard through the ball. At the plate his setup is wide, hands away from his head. On the pitch he uses a small stride, quick path to the ball, long extension with balance on the finish. Exit velocity was 80 mph, home to first time was 4.4, pro agility time was 4.53.

Thomas Van der Veer, OF, Shenendehowa HS, NY (2015)
Van der Veer stands 5-foot-9, 170-pounds with a strong build. From the outfield he uses smooth baseball actions to get to the ball, fields outside of glove, uses a crow hop for power, clean exchange, long and back arm action, throws from a high-3/4 slot, arm strength at 77 mph. At the plate he uses a back knee lift, back load, long path to the ball, level bat plane, extension out in front, shoulder height finish. Exit velocity was 70 mph off a tee, home to first time was 4.3, pro agility was 4.69.

Michael Whalen, OF, The Albany Academies HS, NY (2016)
Whalen stands 6-foot-0, 160-pounds with a frame to build on. From the OF he charges the ball hard, fields glove side in front of his body, long arm action with a long stride, throws from a high-3/4 slot, arm strength at 75 mph. At the plate he uses a relaxed approach. On the pitch he uses a knee lift and stride, back load. Short path to the ball, slightly uphill bat path, some extension out in front. Exit velocity was 70 mph, home to first time was 4.5, pro agility time was 4.40.

Stephen Acquario, LHP, Shaker HS, NY (2017)
Acquario stands 5-foot-7, 130-pounds with a slender build and room to grow. From the OF he fields the ball outside his glove side, clean exchange, long back arm action, throws from a low-3/4 slot, arm strength was 75 mph. At the plate he uses a wide approach. On the pitch back loads, heel lift for timing. Short path to the ball, hands stay inside the ball, bat plane is slightly inclined through contact, extension after, high finish, rolls over on front leg at times, needs to focus on more front side balance. Exit velocity was 73 mph, home to first time was 4.48, pro agility time was 4.6.
