SCOUTING REPORT

Polgano checks in with a wiry/athletic 5-foot-10 150 pound frame. He ran a 7.91 60. Offensively- Sets up just outside his shoulder with feet even and an upright barrel just off back shoulder. Bottom hand load; tilts barrel back towards mound as he works in a slight leg kick and forward stride. Stays behind the ball and gets legs involved early; moderate swing length with balance at contact. Elevated two handed finish with gap-to-gap line drive/flyball results. Peak exit velocity was 83 MPH, a 2 MPH increase. Defensively- Behind the plate he uses a low to the ground, compact setup. Gains ground with pop step staying tight to the plate. Efficient with exchange and stays low coming out of the shoot; throws demonstrated carry at 69 MPH with a pop time range of 2.13-2.16. At 3B Polgano uses a tall setup pre-pitch; athletic actions staying on the balls of his feet. Bends at the waist with hands out in front; stays soft and is clean with his exchange. Uses a 3/4 arm slot; throws were a respectable 78 MPH across the diamond. Pitching- On the mound arm action is long and loose working through the same 3/4 slot. Worked primarily from the stretch; mid chest balance point with a stride that opens up a touch to the 1B side creating some peel-off in that direction. Showed FB command at 75-77 MPH and a feel for his CB with late 12-to-6 action at 64-65 MPH. Change up demonstrated arm side fade with a solid differential at 66-68 MPH. Three pitch mix with room for growth; projects well at several spots on the field.

WHAT TO EXPECT
"We've seen Polgano on the mound, at 3B and behind the plate this past year showing he is the ultimate team player. Often times players that bounce around are average at all of them or project highly at one spot, not the case for Polgano. He's an adept defender both behind the plate and on the infield showing enough arm to get the job done. On the mound he has along arm action with a clean, whip like arm; up to 77 MPH with more in the tank. There's utility player and 'super utility' and Polgano fits the latter description. Looking forward to seeing him and his versatility again."
