Dan Cevette
President, New York

Name: Alexander KippAlexander Kipp
High School: Veron-Verona-Sherill
Position: 2B/3B
Grad Year: 2019

Scouting Report
Kipp checks in at 5-foot-7, 180 pounds. Had a 60 yard dash time of 7.66 seconds. Offensively- LEFT HANDED: Begins with feet a little wider than shoulder and knees slightly bent with an even stance. Hands begin close to back ear. Uses a small leg kick that lands even as hands load down and backwards slightly. Barrel is on a direct path with limited extension through contact. Swing plane is slightly downhill. Hips are rotational throughout the swing. Two handed finish just above front shoulder. RIGHT HANDED: Setup and load are same as left handed. Much better extension through contact from right side and swing is flatter. Finish is two handed but at front shoulder height. Looks to be natural side. Had an exit velocity of 84 MPH off of the tee. Defensively- Approaches the ball with short, controlled strides. Fields ball with feet narrow in a staggered stance and slight bend at the knees; hands out in front of his body. Uses a shuffle on throws; low 3/4 arm action on throws of 67 MPH across the infield. Will need to improve arm strength to stay at the hot corner at the next level.

Our Take
What standouts to us from an organizational standpoint is the ability Kipp brings to the table with the bat. There's some visible bat-speed  and fluidity throughout the swing. He's going to need to work hard on his arm-strength development to stay at 3rd, but he's a sophomore with a lot of work-ethic and desire to be better. We will see where he stacks up at the end of June when he squares up with the best in NY during the NYS Games.
