Michael Diehr, MIF/RHP, Elmira HS, NY (2016)
Diehr stands 5-foot-9 160-pounds with a frame to build on. On the mound he uses a crouched approach, and good shoulder alignment. His fastball was 71-73 mph from an over the top slot. He showed the makings of a solid changeup using good fastball hand speed and arm side fade. He finishes balanced over his front knee with extension.

Fielding/Hitting - In the infield he moves controlled to the ball, fields out in front of his body, uses a clean ball to hand transfer and throws from a mid/high ¾ slot. His biggest area for improvement is his arm strength, which was 72 mph across the diamond. At the plate his approach is balanced, he uses a back load with a knee lift and stride on the pitch for timing. He keeps his hands inside the pitch, bat path is inclined through contact with a level shoulder height finish. His bat exit velocity was 76 mph off a tee.

Analysis:
Diehr has the foundation in place to be a solid player. The mechanics of his arm and with his swing are both sound and will develop more with time. He needs to take his overall body strength to a new level this winter. We have invited him to our Feb. 15th invite-only event,  and if he takes his game to the weight room over the next few months we expect him to show well.
