Scouting Report on Willard
Ryan Willard SS (Brampton Centennial HS, 2015)
Willard stands 5-foot-6 150-pounds and is athletic. At the plate he starts with his hands high and with a balanced approach. On the pitch he uses a back load and stride for timing. His bat path is slightly on the incline with a shoulder high finish. His bat speed was 74 mph off a tee. At SS he moves towards the ball hard with his glove down. He has a quick glove to hand transfer and throws from a high ¾ slot. He opens up too early, staying closed longer will help increase his power and accuracy. His arm strength was 73 mph and he ran a 6.83 60 yard dash showing great athleticism.

Analysis:
Willard has the build of a running back and he runs like one too. Very impressed with his quickness both in the 60 yard dash (6.83) and laterally during fielding drills. He needs to really focus this off-season on building an overall stronger more physical presence. His arm strength is not where he wants it at 73 mph but with a some hard work, and the right program he could see 3-5 mph gains by spring. Same with his wrist, forearms, hands, any increased strength will add to bat speed and power. We look forward to seeing how hes doing this winter and spring.
