Scouting Report on Huntsman
Taylor Huntsman RHP/3B (Niagara Falls HS, NY 2015)
Huntsman stands 6-foot-2 220-pounds with a big body. On the bump he throws from a mid/high 3/4 slot with a fastball sitting 79-81 mph. He throws a curveball at 64-62 mph with 11/5 shape. He also shows a change up at 71 mph. Mechanically he opens up a little early but not bad, and he finishes his pitches over his front side good.

At the plate he starts with his hands high and a slightly open stance. He gets around the ball some with a short extension. His barrel is level through the zone and generates an 84 mph exit velocity off a tee.

From 3B he stays low and behind the ball with a mid/high 3/4 slot at 78 mph. He ran a 7.69 60. His glove to hand transfer is clean and quick before the throw.

Analysis:
Huntsman is a big body strong kid with the ability to help a program on the mound next year. He topped 81 mph from a upper 3/4 slot but there is more velocity in his arm. He showed a solid three pitch mix and when he learns to stay closed longer through his hips he will start seeing more hand speed on all his pitches. With the bat he has some power potential and needs to develop some more extension after contact. He is an Unsigned Senior looking hard for a place to call home, he should attend our Sept. 21st event for Unsigned Seniors.
