Q & A with Corning HS CF/SS Zach Sullivan

Name: Zach Sullivan
High School: Corning HS
College Commitment: Stony Brook University
Position: OF/SS

PBR New York sat down with Corning HS star CF/SS Zach Sullivan, who ran a 6.4-second 60-yard dash at the Area Code games, for a question and answer session.

PBR: Tell me what made you pick Stony Brook over all the other schools interested in you?

Zach Sullivan: When I went on campus at Stony Brook and got to meet Coach (Matt) Senk and the rest of the guys, I knew that was the place for me. How Coach Senk runs the program and what he offers to the players is what really took me in. He is a great coach and I knew by going there I would get the teaching that I would need to get better and make my way to the next level.

PBR: What are the pro scouts saying? Who seems the most interested?

Zach Sullivan: They are saying that they like the tools that I have to offer. I have a projectable frame that they can work with. My speed really plays for me, but I need to learn how to use it more efficiently. I have a quick bat and some power but need to be more consistent with it.

PBR: Are you willing to sign a professional contract, or do you want to go to college?

Zach Sullivan: Yes I am willing to sign. I would love to go play professional baseball right out of high school. With that being said, I feel my opportunity at Stony Brook is tremendous, and it would have to make sense to me and my family to sign.

PBR: Who are your biggest influences in baseball?

Zach Sullivan: My big influences around me would be the guys that I got to play with this summer. I got to know them pretty well, and became very close with most of them. We all talk about how bad we want things in baseball and that really motivates all of us to work harder than the rest. At the end of the day we are all competing against one another but that motivates us even more.

"Zach is a very athletic five tool guy with a high ceiling. He has the ability to play anywhere although outfield may suit him best due to his speed, arm and ability to get great jumps on the ball. Zach has the desire to learn the game on a high level and has gotten better every year I've been around him. I look forward to seeing him play this spring, it should be very exciting to watch" said Pete Graham, Corning HS assistant baseball coach.
