Top Prospect Games Analysis: SS/MIF Reports from Aug 16th

The New York Top Prospect Games were a huge success, bringing together many talented players from all over New York showing off their skills in front of roughly 40 college scouts and two MLB scouts. We are already focused on making next years Top Prospect Games even better. From this years event, in only two short weeks, 6 players have received and accepted D1 and D2 college scholarship offers. We would like to give a special thanks to all the players, parents, help, and colleges from Aug 16, it truly was a special day for us.

The scouting notes on all 22 SS/MIF are now complete, lets take a look at what Aug 16th had up the middle.

Ricky Sisto SS (Liverpool HS, 2015)
The No. 44 NY Player in the 2015 Class, Sisto stands 6-foot-1 190-pounds with a great baseball body and frame to build on. The Miami of Ohio commit fields the ball out in front of his body with a smooth transfer, uses smooth footwork lining himself up with his target. He shows a variety of arm slots all with accuracy and arm strength at 81 mph with more in the tank. He plays SS with smooth baseball actions with a strong confidence. At the plate he sets up very balanced and athletic, on the pitch he uses a back load and leg lift with a short stride. His bat path is on the incline through the zone, generating power to both gaps and finishes balanced through the ball. Exit velocity has been up to 93 mph off a tee.

Ryan Walker MIF (Corning HS, 2015)
Walker stands 5-foot-11 165-pounds with room to add some good weight. From the infield he uses plus baseball actions getting around the baseball, fields ball out in front with a smooth clean quick transfer, throws from a mid ¾ slot at 83 mph getting through the baseball. He moves laterally well and ran 4.24 home to first time out of the right side batter’s box. At the plate his approach is balanced with a small leg lift and stride on the pitch. His bat path is level through the strike zone with his hands inside the ball and a shoulder high finish. His exit velocity was 85 mph off a tee.

Nicholas DeMarco MIF (Shaker HS, 2015)
DeMarco stands 6-foot-1 165-pounds with a projectable frame. From the infield he comes and gets the baseball hard, fields on his glove side and throws from a mid/high ¾ slot, very quick release at 82 mph. He moves athletically to the ball and ran a 4.28 home to first time from the right side batter’s box. At the plate his approach is tall and relaxed, on the pitch he uses a slight back load and leg lift, his bat path is slightly inclined with short extension and a shoulder high finish. His exit velocity was 80 mph off a tee.

Nico Limoncelli SS (Horseheads HS, 2017)
Limoncelli stands 5-foot-11 150-pounds with an athletic frame built to hold more solid mass. In the infield he uses plus footwork to get around the ball, fields the ball on his glove side, uses a fast clean transfer and throws form a high ¾ slot at 82 mph and gets through the baseball. Very young, plenty of raw tools to like, will only get better and has great work ethic. At the plate his approach is balanced. On the pitch he uses a back load, back knee lift and stride, drives his hands and hips to the baseball, bat path is level through the zone using some extension after contact and a shoulder height finish.

Jake Cavana SS (Olean HS, 2016)
Cavana stands 5-foot-8 150-pounds with an athletic build and the frame to hold more. In the infield he gets to the ball and fields it cleanly in the middle of his stance. His glove is a bit raw, he uses an average transfer, long arm action, from a mid ¾ slot with good arm strength at 83 mph. At the plate he set ups with his feet barely shoulder width apart, on the pitch he uses a back load and long stride, drives his hands to the ball with some extension through contact with his bat path level through the strike zone. His exit velocity was 78 mph off a tee.

Andrew Pedone MIF (Shenendehowa HS, 2015)
Pedone stands 6-foot-0 175-pounds with the frame to easily add 10-15 good pounds of muscle. From the Infield he moves towards to ball fielding it out in front with smooth hands and a quick clean transfer. He throws form a low/mid ¾ arm slot at 81 mph, gets his back side through his throws towards his target, with a short arm action. At the plate he sets up with his weight shifted on his back leg, back load, using a leg lift on the pitch. His bat path is on the incline through the strike zone, he really gets his back side through the ball with a powerful high finish. He shows power potential hitting a Home Run in batting practice with an exit velocity of 83 off a tee. He ran an impressive 4.03 home to first time.

Cameron Ringo MIF (Hamburg HS, 2015)
Ringo stands 5-foot-11 160-pounds with a frame that has loads of projection. From the infield he uses plus actions, fields the ball slightly to his glove side out in front of his body, has a clean transfer from a high ¾ slot at 81 mph with carry. He moves well laterally and ran a 4.28 home to first time from the right hand batter’s box. At the plate his setup is upright, uses a back load and drops his hands, hips slightly open up early and swing is on an incline, with a high finish and exit velocity of 85 mph.  

Marcos Perivolaris SS/MIF (Mattituck HS, 2015)
Perivolaris stands 5-foot-8 158-pounds with a strong athletic frame. In the field he charges the ball fielding it in the middle of his stance, funnels to his belt and uses a clean transfer. He throws from a low ¾ slot at 80 mph getting his back side through the ball. He shows quickness with his feet and ran a 4.3 home to first time from the right handed batter’s box. At the plate his set up is balanced, on the pitch he uses a small back load, heel lift for timing, and shows a powerful swing on a level path through the zone. He gets his back side through the ball, uses long extension, shoulder high finish and shows great power potential. His exit velocity was 83 mph off a tee.

Colin BeVard MIF (West Genesee HS, 2016)
BeVard stands 5-foot-10 185-pounds and is built like a power tailback. In the infield he charge the ball hard and fields in the middle of his stance. He has a quick, jerky transfer and fast release with an 80 mph arm from a low ¾ slot. He is a very athletic player, just still very raw and needs more reps to smooth out. At the plate he brings a balanced approach, knee lift and back load on the pitch, drives his hands inside the ball getting his legs and hips into the swing. The bat path is slightly inclined, great long extension with a high one handed finish. He shows power to both gaps with an exit velocity of 89 mph. He ran a 4.1 home to first time showing off his athleticism.

Dominic Cecere SS (Williamsville North HS, 2015)

Cecere stands 5-foot-10 160-pounds with small lean build. In the field he moves quickly to the ball but under control, gets around the baseball and fields with his glove out in front, slightly to his arm side. His transfer is clean and quick, arm action is short and he throws from a high ¾ slot with 79 mph arm strength. At the plate his approach is wide and weight is centered. On the pitch he uses a back load, leg lift with minimal stride, drives his hands inside the ball with a bat path mostly level through the zone. He finishes with extension after contact and a shoulder height, one handed finish.

Brandon Nicholson MIF (Orchard Park HS, 2015)
Nicholson stands 5-foot-9 170-pounds with a solid frame. From the infield he comes to the ball staying around it, fields the ball with his glove out in front of his body and to his glove side. Very quick clean transfer and throws from a low ¾ slot at 80 mph getting his back side through his throws. He moves laterally well showing good footwork and a 4.2 home to first time. At the plate his approach is balanced, he uses a back knee shift for timing and his hands slightly drop on the pitch. His bat path is on the incline through the zone with some extension through contact and a high finish. His exit velocity was 84 mph off a tee.

Matt Smith MIF (Horseheads HS, 2015)
Smith stands 5-foot-8 145-pounds with a small, but athletic frame. From the infield he uses good footwork, prep steps, gets in a balanced position to field the ball out in front of his body and uses a quick, clean transfer. His arm action is long and he throws from a low ¾ slot with 79 mph arm strength. He ran a 4.38 home to first time showing off his athleticism. At the plate he starts with his hands back and above his shoulder, flat bat, and weight back on his right leg. On the pitch he uses a heel lift and small stride, drives his hips forward, bat stays level through the zone and he uses a balanced high finish after contact.

Steven Gerringer MIF (Arlington HS, 2015)
Gerringer stands 5-foot-10 150-pounds with a frame that can hold more. From the infield he shows plus actions and balance getting around the baseball. He fields the ball in the middle of his stance, funnels to his belt with an average transfer but clean. He gets through his throws from a low ¾ slot with arm strength at 76 mph. At the plate his weight is slightly shifted back with a balanced approach. On the pitch he uses a small stride and drives his hands to the ball staying inside the ball. His bat path stays level through the hitting plane and he uses long extension with a strong high finish. His exit velocity was 82 mph.

Allen Murphy MIF (Bolivar Richburg HS, 2016)
Murphy stands 5-foot-9 145-pounds with a frame that needs more size. In the infield he gets around the baseball fielding it to his glove side middle, uses an average transfer, throws with a back arm action from a mid ¾ slot at 74 mph.  At the plate his approach is athletic and balanced. He uses a back load and small stride on the pitch for timing, has a pure balanced swing, bat path is on the incline with long extension after contact and a high finish. His exit velocity was 75 mph and his home to first time was 4.25.

Patrick Coyne MIF (Canandaigua Academy HS, 2015)
Coyne stands 5-foot-7 145-pounds with a small slender build. In the infield he moves forward to the ball, glove down and out, fields out in front of his body with his head down. Uses good footwork to line up his throw, average transfer with a long back arm action from a mid ¾ slot at 73 mph. At the plate his setup is athletic. On the pitch he uses a back load, leg lift and stride, drives his hands to the ball with a level bat path through the zone. He uses long extension after contact with a high finish, finish is off balance sometimes rolling on his front leg. Exit velocity was 77 mph off a tee.

Ben Monroe MIF (Webster Thomas HS, 2015)
Monroe stands 5-foot-11 165-pounds with room to add some good weight. In the infield he moves quick to the ball, fields in the middle of his body, clean transfer and a fast release. He throws from a high ¾ slot with arm strength at 73 mph. At the plate his setup is upright and he uses a long back load and leg lift with a stride on the pitch. His hands stay inside the ball, bat path is level through the zone with a shoulder level finish with some extension. His exit velocity was 76 mph.

Michael Diehr MIF/RHP (Elmira HS, 2016)
In the infield he moves controlled to the ball, fields out in front of his body, uses a clean ball to hand transfer and throws from a mid/high ¾ slot. His biggest area for improvement is his arm strength, which was 72 mph across the diamond. At the plate his approach is balanced, he uses a back load with a knee lift and stride on the pitch for timing. He keeps his hands inside the pitch, bat path is inclined through contact with a level shoulder height finish. His bat exit velocity was 76 mph off a tee.

Dominick Spinoso RHP/MIF (Jamesville-Dewitt HS, 2017)
In the infield he shows signs of great athleticism getting to balls laterally quick with control and balance. He fields the ball smoothly out in front of his body, moving his feet towards the target, using a clean transfer and release from a high ¾ slot with plus arm strength at 82 mph. At the plate he starts relaxed and balanced, on the pitch he uses a small back load and stride. He drives his back side through the ball with a bat path that stays level through the zone with a medium / high finish. His exit velocity was 78 mph off a tee and he ran a 4.3 home to first time.

Mitchell Henshaw C/SS (Brockport HS, 2016)
In the infield he uses prep steps to get around the ball and fields the baseball off to his glove side with an average transfer and long arm action. He throws form a high ¾ slot at 77 mph getting his back side through the ball.

Nikolas Malachowski RHP/SS (Shenedehowa HS, 2016)
In the infield he gets to the ball with ease, low effort actions, fields the ball out in front with a fast transfer and throws from a high ¾ slot with 79 arm strength. His size is a plus and his actions are smooth and projectable. At the plate he sets up with his weight shifted on his back leg, hands shoulder height. On the pitch he uses a slight back load, leg lift with small stride and he drives his hands and hips to the ball generating powerful bat speed up 90 mph. He has long extension after contact and a shoulder height balanced finish. Prospect to keep an eye on.

Lucas Sharman MIF (Fairport HS, 2015)
Sharman stands 5-foot-11 175-pounds with an average build. In the infield he fields the ball out in front of his body with a quick, clean transfer, throws from a mid ¾ slot with short arm action at 71 mph. He bats from the left side with his weight shifted on his back leg at approach. He drops his hands on the pitch with a back load, leg lift for timing and drives his hands through the ball a level bat path, balanced with long extension after contact. His exit velocity was 80 mph and his home to first time was 4.5.

Brett Migliore SS/MIF (Wellsville HS, 2016)
At the plate his approach is wide with his weight shifted back, hands low. He uses a no stride technique and a back load on the pitch, drives his hands to the ball with a pure, balanced swing from the left side. His bat path is level through the zone, some extension after contact with a shoulder height finish, exit velocity was 82 mph and he ran a 4.3 home to first time.
