Upstate JUCO Sophomore Showcase: Stats and Highlights

This past Saturday Prep Baseball Report-New York along with Pro Prospects Training Center teamed up to work out several Junior College Sophomores in unison with the Upstate Last Chance Preview event, which also featured 25+ 2018 grads.

 A few versatile athletes took to the field, here's how they measured up:

2017 Upstate JUCO Sophomore Stats

Highlights

Sophomore RHP/SS Robert Schmuck, Jefferson CC, NY
Lean/athletic frame at 6-foot-0 165 pounds with a short, compact stroke in BP with a contact approach. Littered the left side of the field with line drives. Exit velocity of 89 MPH. Glides to the ball with soft hands; accurate and suitable left side arm at 84 MPH across the diamond. Works primaririly out of the stretch sitting 82-84 MPH with a sharp down action CB at 69-70 MPH. Easy effort arm that is still developing.

Sophomore INF/OF Billy Clifford, Onondaga CC, NY
Physical 6-foot-1 185 pound right-handed hitter who projects as a corner outfielder or highly athletic 3B at the four year level. Ran a 6.91 60 and was middle of the field with line drives during BP. Even stance; explosive through the zone with potential for some lift. 92 MPH exit velocity. Accurate arm with carry (83 from the OF, 81 across the diamond).

Sophomore INF/OF Manny Nova, Sullivan CC, NY
High end athlete who ran a 6.79 60 and was 83 from the outfield and 84 across the diamond. Showed better on the infield with active feet, hands working through the ball and quick snap like arm action. Showed some bat speed and the ability to work the gaps, some upper body effort at times that can dominate the swing. Exit velocity was 85 MPH. Could handle the move to the outfield if needed.

Sophomore INF/RHP Manny Rojas, Sullivan CC, NY
Slightly built right-handed hitter who ran a 7.04 60, was 84 MPH across the diamond with an 85 MPH exit velocity. Short, inside out approach. Table-setter mentality using the whole field. Improved lower half will help consistency. Good bounce in his step up the middle, active footwork clean glove, transfer and arm. Showed above average glove side range.
