2015 Team Preview: Marion Local

Strengths of Team:

Top Prospects in Class of 2015:

  • Blake Benton - OF - 2015 - 6' - 190 - R/R - Returning 1st Team All MAC.

Top Prospects in Class of 2016:

  • Aaron Nietfeld - OF/P - 5'10" - Bats- L, Throws-R -- Aaron is coming off a disappointing Sophomore campaign after fracturing his eye socket a little over half-way through the year. Aaron hit .429 as a Freshman and things look bright going into 2015.
  • Cole Griesdorn - INF/P - 6'1" - 170 - Bats R, Throws - R -- Cole Griesdorn is horse on the mound, consistently hitting low-80s. As Cole continues to grow on the mound, the sky is the limit for this very talented athlete. Had 9 strikeouts in a 1-0 loss to St. Henry (#1 in the state) last year. Cole is two year Varsity Award Winner.
  • Nick Heitkamp - C - 6' - 160 - Bats R, Throws - R - Nick is the hardest working athlete on the team and is coming off a very promising Sophomore campaign. As Nick matures he is growing into a very talented young man.

Top Prospects in Class of 2017: 

  • Cole Unrast - 1B/P - 6'3" - 180 Bats-L, Throws-L Cole, first cousin of Major League Lefty Cory Leubke is looking to make a name for himself. Cole is a very talented southpaw who hit 79-81 as a freshman on the bump. Cole's sophomore campaign is sure to be a good one.
  • Duane Leugers - INF/P - 6'0" - 180, Bats-R, Throws-R, Duane is one of those special athletes that are rare to come by. Duane as a Freshman led the team in IP and ERA, 37 and 2/3 and 2.62 respectively. Duane is college talent in the making.

Top Prospects in Class of 2018:

  • Nick Thwaits - OF/P, 6''1 - 165, Bats-R, Throws-R Nick Thwaits is an extremely talented young man who has the potential to step in and be the best player on a very good team. Nick will be a possible D1 prospect in the years to come.
