With the 2016 spring season right around the corner, PBR Ohio is eagerly anticipating bringing the Buckeye state the best high school coverage throughout the entire state.

Starting February 1st, we began releasing team previews for teams across the state, leading into the Preseason All-State Teams as well as the Preseason State Rankings.

2016 Spring Team Preview: Berlin Hiland Hawks

Team Name: Berlin Hiland Hawks
Head Coach: Tom Gibson
Division: III
2015 Record: 28-4
Conference Record: IVC, 1st place
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 6/4

2016 Team Strengths:

• Pitching
• Defense
• Team chemistry

2016 Team Weaknesses:

• Timely hitting

Coach Outlook: We moved up to DIII this year and the tournament run will have different opponents we will need to scout. We only have three seniors and they will start. Younger players will have to step up. Could have some sophomores and freshman play key roles this year. We have a strong junior class but have lost one potential starter to injury already.

Top Returning Players:

• Eric Mullet, P/2B/OF, SR, three year starter, team captain, Malone commit, 0.00 ERA
• Mitch Massaro, P/OF, JR, started all of last year, one of top hitters on the team
• Bryan Yoder, C/P, JR, started 26 games last year, one of the best catchers in the state, will pitch some this year
• Chris Kline, SS/OF, JR, will take over at SS, very versatile and natural athlete, can play anywhere

Top Underclassmen:

• Cam Miller, SO, C/P/1B, has potential to be very good
• Cordell Miller, SO, 1B/3B/P, has potential to be very good
• Andy Miller, FR, SS/INF/OF, has a legitimate shot to play some quality innings this season, has a huge upside, someone to watch
