2016 Spring Team Preview: Centerville Elks

With the 2016 spring season right around the corner, PBR Ohio is eagerly anticipating bringing the Buckeye state the best high school coverage throughout the entire state.

Starting February 1st, we began releasing team previews for teams across the state, leading into the Preseason All-State Teams as well as the Preseason State Rankings.

2016 Spring Team Preview: Centerville Elks

Team Name: Centerville Elks
Head Coach: Jason Whited
Division: I
2015 Record: 13-14
Conference Record: Greater Western Ohio Conference, 4-6, 5th place
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 5/6

2016 Team Strengths:

  • Leadership
  • Experience off mound
  • Outfield play and depth
  • Left-handed pitching

2016 Team Weaknesses:

  • Lack of lineup experience
  • Questions on who emerges as middle of the lineup hitters
  • Defensive questions on who can play where

Coach Outlook: We return a large group of seniors (nine) and over 105 innings off the mound for our pitching staff. We also have several players from the junior class that are expected to take big steps and fill positions in the outfield and corner infield. 

Top Returning Players:

  • Seth Pritchett, 2016, P/INF 6'0” 175, R/R, Ohio Wesleyan commit
  • Quincy Hamilton, 2016, P/OF 5'9” 175, L/L, several DII and JUCO have expressed interest
  • Brian Schutter, 2016, P/INF 6'0” 170, R/R, Washington University (St. Louis) commit
  • Myles Edwards, 2016, P/1B, 6'0” 185, L/L, Earlham University commit

Top Underclassmen:

  • Kenny Stahl, C, 5'11” 175, R/R, saw innings behind the plate as a freshmen
  • Riley Poulton, C/3B, 5'11” 165, strong skill set and terrific base runner
  • Nick Hoffman, P/INF, 6'0” 155, terrific build and ceiling
  • Morgan Colopy, OF, 5'11” 160, great work ethic and strength
