2016 Spring Team Preview: Coshocton Redskins

With the 2016 spring season right around the corner, PBR Ohio is eagerly anticipating bringing the Buckeye state the best high school coverage throughout the entire state.

Starting February 1st, we began releasing team previews for teams across the state, leading into the Preseason All-State Teams as well as the Preseason State Rankings.

2016 Spring Team Preview: Coshocton Redskins

Team Name: Coshocton Redskins
Head Coach: Scott Loomis
Division: III
2015 Record: 17-10 
Conference Record: East Central Ohio League - Gray Division, 2nd
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 7/6

2016 Team Strengths:

  • Experience - 10 seniors - 10 returning lettermen (2- 4-yr lettermen / 3- 3-yr lettermen / 5- 2-yr-lettermen
  • Pitching - return 15 wins from 2015 - set school record in ERA in 2015
  • Batting - set school record for BA in 2015 - return 5 of top 6 in line-up from 2015
  • Athleticism / Speed - stole 113 bases in 2015
  • Defense - return most of middle from 2015 (C-SS-2B)

2016 Team Weaknesses:

  • Who will step up as leaders
  • How we will handle high expectations mentally
  • Tough schedule in 2016 - league and non-league

Coach Outlook:

  • 10 returning lettermen / 10 seniors on the roster - this group went 20-8 in 2014 and 17-10 in 2015 (many players 3rd year on varsity)
  • Expect to have a chance to get to Regionals from East District
  • Expect to have a chance to win ECOL - Gray division

PBR Outlook: The Coshocton Redskins return an experienced group who had a nice 17 win campaign a year ago. With 10 returning lettermen and 10 seniors, coach Loomis and his Redskins will be a team to watch in 2016.

  • Andrew Mason -- C, Jr., 6-2 185, L/R -- 3-yr starter at C (.417 avg, 20 RBI, 10 SB)
  • Conner Roahrig -- SS/RHP, Sr. 6'3" 170 R/R -- 4-yr letterman (.387 avg, 32 R, 15 SB -- 4 wins 1.82 ERA)
  • Alex McPeak - RHP-2B, Sr. 5'9" 150 R/R -- 3-yr letterman (.277 avg. 4 wins 1.27 ERA)
  • Hunter Hass - CF-RHP Sr. 6'1" 175 R/R - 3-yr letterman (.278 avg 16 RBI)
  • Devin Ryan - INF-P Soph. 6'0" 165 R/R - 2-yr letterman (.311 avg 10 SB)
  • Jeremy Bresciani - OF Sr. 6'0" 180 R/R - 2-yr letterman (.364 avg)
  • Logan Hough - P Sr. 6'1" 170 R/R - 2-yr letterman (2 Wins .300 avg)
