2016 Spring Team Preview: Jackson Ironmen

With the 2016 spring season right around the corner, PBR Ohio is eagerly anticipating bringing the Buckeye state the best high school coverage throughout the entire state.

Starting February 1st, we began releasing team previews for teams across the state, leading into the Preseason All-State Teams as well as the Preseason State Rankings.

2016 Spring Team Preview: Jackson Ironmen

Team Name: Jackson Ironmen

2015 Record: 18-8
Conference Record: Southeastern Ohio Athletic League, 9-1
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 5/4

2016 Team Strengths:

  • Great starting pitching 
  • Senior leadership
  • Return (3) four-year starters, (3) three-year starters, (2) two-year starters
  • Great catching

2016 Team Weaknesses:

  • Need to score more runs than in 2015

Coach Outlook: Jackson will be led by great pitching, which includes four senior starters, led by DI signee Hunter Sexton, and NAIA signee Logan Largent. Jackson returns eight starters from 2015.

Top Returning Players:

  • Hunter Sexton, SS/RHP, SR, 6'0" 215, R/R, four year starter, career .415 BA, Marshall commit, reigning SEOAL POY
  • Logan Largent, RHP/1B, SR, 6'4" 220, R/R, Shawnee State commit
  • Austin Leach, 3B/RHP, SR, 6'1" 185, R/R, interest from Ohio University
  • Billy Cooper, C, JR, 5'11" 195, S/R, Cincinnati commit, 1.88 pop time

Top Underclassmen:

  • Kendall Neal, RHP, 5'11" 185, SO, R/R, 4-0 record, 78-80 MPH as a freshman
  • Cooper Donaldson, RHP, 6'2" 170, FR, R/R, great arm, potential to be a 90 MPH kid by graduation, father is 6’8”
