With the 2016 spring season right around the corner, PBR Ohio is eagerly anticipating bringing the Buckeye state the best high school coverage throughout the entire state.

Starting February 1st, we began releasing team previews for teams across the state, leading into the Preseason All-State Teams as well as the Preseason State Rankings.

2016 Spring Team Preview: Lakewood St. Edward Eagles

Team Name: St. Edward Eagles
Head Coach: Matt Rosinski
Division: I
2015 Record: 20-10
Conference Record: Independent
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 4/5

2016 Team Strengths:

• Pitching - St. Ed's returns essentially all of their pitching from its regional qualifier team from a year ago, including senior Jaret Edwards (George Washington commit) and junior Quinn Lavelle (Northwestern commit) as well as DI prospect Kevin Finzer.
• 2. Hitting - St. Ed's returns both of its starting middle infielders, Joey Weisenseel (D1 prospect) and Evan Kayser (Truman State University commit), who look to ignite the offense at the top of the order. Quinn Lavelle and Kurtis Farley will be other key bats in the order.
• 3. Leadership - Large senior class with great leaders.

2016 Team Weaknesses:

• Loss of the outfield from last year, as well as replacing Mason Deanna (University of Cincinnati) behind the plate.

Coach Outlook: New era for St. Edward baseball as it’s the first season under head coach Matt Rosinski (26) who comes over from St. Ignatius. Coach Rosinski inherits a very talented senior class with several great leaders. The team is excited to be playing at the new home of St. Edward Baseball (Northern Ohio Baseball Complex), a trip to Florida for one of the country's top tournaments at the IMG National Classic over spring break, and an opportunity to get back to the Regional Semifinals like last year, and hopefully beyond.

• Joey Weisenseel, 2016, SS, All State in 2014 as a sophomore, three year starter, uncommitted
• Quinn Lavelle, 2017, LHP/OF, Northwestern commit
• Jaret Edwards, 2016, P, four year varsity player, George Washington commit
• Evan Kayser, 2016, 2B, Truman State commit
  Kevin Finzer, 2017, P, throws in the upper 80’s, uncommitted
